Notes: Close The App, Make The Ting is a collection of ideas shared by Elijah that began in July 2021, as the Covid 19 lockdowns were ending in the UK. They started as simple notes questioning what the music and creative scenes would look like after being shut down for 18 months shared regularly on Instagram, then developed into a multimedia project that spanned visual installations, an album with grime MC Jammz, a club night and a lecture series that toured the world.

Close The App, Make The Ting: Transformative Prompts for the Modern Artist brings together the best of the ideas and the projects they inspired. This book is for anyone producing or thinking of producing creative work, that needs something outside of ‘advice’, these are evergreen artistic prompts that will inspire new ways of approaching being an artist in the 2020s.

The book is 25cm x 25 cm, and the 144 pages are printed on premium heavyweight paper.

Notes: Dead Moon were a lo-fi Garage/Rock'n'Roll band from Portland, Oregon, active for almost 20 years between 1987 and 2006, during which time the band gained a mythic and legendary iconic status. 'Off the Grid' is a 'dizzying oral history'* about this most stubborn, idealistic and arguably wildest band in the world - a saga about love itself and the love of rock and roll, about DIY and about an improbable career.

The biography of singer Fred Cole (formerly of The Weeds, Lollipop Shoppe and The Rats before Dead Moon) is like a rollercoaster ride through countless bands and musical styles beginning in the Teenbeat era of the 60s driven by an invisible force and one big love. They cultivated their DIY code built around Fred's superstitions and avoidance of conventional music industry pitfalls.

They toured around the world, played in live clubs between Oregon, Europe and New Zealand.

They cut their own records and ran their own music store and label - Tombstone Music. Their story is completely unique in the pantheon of rock music; a group who never sold out, never

gave in and built a legacy of art and community in a sustainable way almost unheard of. The book is a tribute to their unique aesthetic, unbelievable twisted path of a story and role as pioneers of the Portland music scene. 'Off The Grid' is a declaration of love to DEAD MOON, to music in general and to rock and roll in particular.

The first two sold out US-editions of this book, first published on 2018 (DEAD MOON - The Book), are currently selling at an eye watering high price so we are now making it accessible as an affordable hardcover book (without the vinyl) for the European market.

The documentation tells the entire Dead Moon saga in the words of the band itself. Editor Simone "Szim" Müller spent weeks in Fred Cole's attic sifting through photos, flyers and tour diaries, collecting posters and T-shirts and conducting extensive interviews.

This third revised and updated edition contains 20 more pages than the original. The already extensive photo section now holds even more historical material, posters, flyers and, exclusive to this edition, an interview with Hans Kesteloo as well as an extended and completed discography & gig list.

In the 1970s, as the disco tsunami engulfed America, the once-innocent question, Do you wanna dance? became divisive, even explosive. What was it about this much-maligned music that made it such hot stuff? In this incisive history, Alice Echols captures the felt experience of the Disco Yearsion dance floors both fabulous and tacky, at the movies, in the streets, and beneath the sheets.

Disco may have presented itself as shallow and disposableithe platforms, polyester, and plastic vibe of it allibut Echols shows that it was inseparable from the emergence of gay macho, a rising black middle class and a growing, if equivocal, openness about female sexuality. The disco scene carved out a haven for gay men who reclaimed their sexuality on dance floors where they had once been surveilled and harassed; it thrust black women onto center stage as some of the genre's most prominent stars; and it paved the way for the opening of Studio 54 and the viral popularity of the shoestring-budget Saturday Night Fever, a movie that challenged traditional notions of masculinity, even for heterosexuals.

As it provides a window onto the cultural milieu of the times, the Hot Stuff never loses sight of the era's defining soundtrack, which propelled popular music into new sonic territory, influencing everything from rap and rock to techno and trance. Throughout, Echols spotlights the work of precursors James Brown and Isaac Hayes, dazzling divas Donna Summer and the women of Labelle and some of disco's lesser known but no less illustrious performers such as Sylvester. After turning the final page of this fascinating account of the music, you thought you hated but can't stop dancing to, you can rest assured that you'll never say disco sucks again.

Notes: Thibault Ehrengardt's Natty Dread magazine was without doubt one of the best reggae magazines ever produced. Even if you didn't read French, it was well worth the price of admission for the presentation and the amazing layout and photographs. The last edition came out in 2010, but since then Ehrengardt has published a series of books on various Jamaican subjects, and now comes the long awaited Official Biography of the dub master King Tubby, first as a French language edition and now, thankfully an English edition.

Featuring some fascinating period photographs courtesy of Tubby's widow Arleen Ruddock, and telling the man's story from his origins in Waterhouse, where he lived all his life in his mothers house famously situated at 18 Dromilly Avenue, to his tragic murder in1989, encompassing the events of his life, his interest in electronics, his ground-breaking sound system and his greatest contribution to the music world, both in Jamaica and in the rest of the world, dub.

Just who was this enigmatic, secretive figure? He was not a rastafarian, nor did he smoke marijuana, and yet his approach to music birthed some of the most incredible records ever made. Ehrengardt's impressive book provides us with the most detailed examination yet of the man.

Who Say Reload is a knockout oral history of the records that defined jungle/drum & bass straight from the original sources. The likes of Goldie, DJ Hype, Roni Size, Andy C, 4hero and many more talk about the influences, environment, equipment, samples, beats and surprises that went into making each classic record.

This is the story of music forged from raw breakbeats and basslines that soundtracked a culture of all-night raves, specialist record shops and pirate radio stations. It's the story of young producers embracing and reappropriating new technology, trying to best their peers and create something that would have hundreds of people screaming for a rewind on Saturday night.

Photography is provided by Eddie Otchere who has an extensive archive of images from the period in question, having been the photographer at Goldie's seminal Metalheadz nights. His previously unseen visuals capture the essence of the music in a way that only someone who was fully immersed in the culture at the time could, and are the perfect accompaniment to the story being told.

Andy Ellison fronted many cult bands like John's Children (with Marc Bolan) Jet with members of Sparks and Roxy Music, The Radio Stars, all of which would see Andy performing hanging from lighting rigs atop of speaker stacks, starting a riot on The Who's tour of Germany and getting thrown off said tour, leaping into audiences from the stage and subsequently damaging himself in most performances. But, aside from all that, the real stories start to come through...of which they appear to be relentless like a machine gun each one more incredulous than the other. The book is liberally sprinkled with many photographs all the way through, not clumped into two or three batches like most books, and boasts a foreword by the one and only Simon Napier-Bell. Andy has some of the best stories of anyone from the music industry...and they're in this book!

Notes: Daniel Ekeroth's (Insision, Tyrant, Dellamorte, Diskonto) exhaustive, 450-page history of Swedish Death Metal. Ekeroth captures the epic tale with enlightening detail, beginning with Sweden's violent loss of innocence in the 1980's, through metal's virtual chokehold on the country during the 1990's, into the lasting legacy and influence in the turbulent 2000's of the Sunlight guitar tone, the Gothenburg Sound, and the countless offshoots of Sweden's most lethal cultural export.

Notes: Belle & Sebastian and Teenage Fanclub have dedicated songs to them, Courtney Barnett has cited them as a major influence, and numerous bands have covered their songs: The Go-Betweens. In 1977, friends Robert Forster and Grant McLennan founded the band in Brisbane, Australia. With their folky indie rock and songs like "Right Here", "Love Goes On" or "Streets of Your Town" they became an international force in the indie world within a few years . The band broke up in 1989 after six successful albums, only to return in 2000 with The Friends of Rachel Worth, an album they recorded with the members of Sleater-Kinney. Two more albums followed until 2005, until the sudden death of Grant McLennan in May 2006 put an end to the band.

Since then, Robert Forster has maintained the band's legacy, re-released the band's early work in two box sets on Domino Records in 2015, told the story of the Go-Betweens as a story of friendship in his autobiography "Grant and I" and also presented numerous solo albums. Now another facet is being added to this maintenance of the band's history: Eleven international comic artists have each chosen a favourite song in order to bring it to new life in very individual approaches as a comic strip.
