The circa-1980 Electro-Harmonix Attack Decay is a sought after prize among vintage pedal aficionados. Originally called a Tape Reverse Simulator, it's known for producing volume and reverse swells, backward tape sounds, artificially short staccato notes and bowed instrument effects. The freshly designed EHX Attack Decay reinterprets the classic and keeps its cool factor, but adds some modern features for convenience and enhanced functionality.

It can produce a single volume envelope like the original, or, with Poly engaged, put separate volume envelopes on each note you play. The built-in Harmonix fuzz is now a fully controllable distortion with gain, tone and volume controls. The effects loop allows the musician or sound designer to place the volume envelope onto whatever signal is present at the Return jack. An Overdrive you can trust

The Special Cranker is an all-discrete analogue distortion enhancement device designed to give your signal some extra grit and boost without drastically altering your tone and retaining all of the natural nuances and character of your amp. Think of it as sticking an extra preamp tube in your amplifier for more saturation. Single notes will blossom and bloom with rich harmonics and singing sustain with responsive, tube-like sag. Power chords will sound thicker and crunchier, a little more ragged around the edges. Complex chords will remain distinct and complex, as the Special Cranker is designed to preserve your tone's integrity without muddying up the low-end or smearing the midrange.

The Special Cranker picks up where the beloved Speaker Cranker left off. It has the same spongy, dynamic, and touch-sensitive character of the original but with more gain, double the output volume (now with a user-friendly Level control), an added Tone control to shape your signal, and a diode selector switch featuring the original asymmetrical Silicon diodes as well as a hot, new Germanium diode option.

The More control goes from nearly clean to a medium gain overdrive when at maximum. This control adjusts the bias of the transistor, so you may hear a little noise as you turn the control. Don't freak out; it's totally fine. The gain characteristics are dependent on which diodes are chosen. When the Germanium diodes are selected, the Special Cranker delivers a softer, more rounded response with tamed highs and lower output, while the Silicon diodes add a brighter, more modern edge and higher output. Both are exceptionally responsive to playing dynamics and have excellent clarity. The Tone control gives the user full command over treble frequencies, cutting the highs when counter-clockwise and adding a slight high-frequency boost when turned clockwise. The Level control adjusts the output from nothing to nearly double at maximum.

The EHX Micro Q-Tron is a smooth envelope filter with a funky wah-wah tone. The Andy Summers Walking on the Moon is an analogue flanger with a simple but powerful control set of RATE, RANGE, and COLOR. The COLOR control effects the intensity of the flanger effect from subtle chorusing effects to classic jet woosh sounds. These three controls interact to create a wide breath of modulation effects.

Introduced in 1982, the OC-2 was the world's first modern octave pedal for guitar and bass. Enhanced Poly Mode

The OC-5 also features an evolved version of the smart Poly mode first introduced with the OC-3 Super Octave, letting you play full chords with octave effects. The variable Range knob restricts the effect to the lower notes on your instrument, perfect for playing octave bass lines alongside normal chords and melodies in the higher registers. And with the new tracking refinements, it's even possible to isolate the octave effect to the bottom note in a chord-just turn the Range knob to the "Lowest" setting.

Extended Range with Octave Up

Another cool OC-5 enhancement is the new octave-up effect, which is available in both Vintage and Poly modes. Simply twist the dedicated +1 OCT knob to bring in the desired effect level. Use the octave-up effect on its own for faux 12-string sounds and unique solo tones, or blend it with the octave-down effects for extended chord voicings and super-fat leads.

Guitar/Bass Switch and Direct Out

The OC-5 lets you instantly optimize the performance of its tracking engine for either guitar or bass via a dedicated switch on the body of the pedal. Make way for the new heir to the octave fuzz throne, the Lizard King from Electro-Harmonix. Directly inspired by the EHX x JHS collaboration released in 2023, the Lizard King takes the gnarly and responsive octave fuzz circuit from the Lizard Queen and optimizes it for bass and beyond. With updated tone controls and a new Blend knob, the bass's fundamental tone and low-end is preserved while the top-end of the fuzz tone is shaped to fit or dominate any mix!

The EHX Lizard King is a fixed-gain fuzz that is dynamically responsive. Adjustments to your instruments volume affects the amount of fuzz. Lower instrument volumes create a clear, fuzzy overdrive, while full instrument volume sends the gain over the top for ripping riff and searing solo tones. The familiar VOLUME and OCTAVE knobs control overall output and octave blend volume respectively. New to the Lizard King, the BLEND knob sets the mix between your clean and fuzz tones to create the perfect balance of fuzz while retaining your bass's attack and low-end. The TONE knob is a low pass filter that rolls off the highs, while the SUN/SHADOW switch further enhances the tone of the octave fuzz and clean tones. SUN boosts the octave fuzz with a more driving midrange, and the clean tone accessed by the BLEND knob has more treble and bass frequencies. When the switch is set to SHADOW, the clean tone is unchanged, and fuzz tone is tighter.

Notes: The Looper X2 is the culmination of over a decade of experience developing easy-to-use standalone and combination pedals. The Looper X2 supercharges practice sessions as well as live performances by empowering the player to start jamming as soon as possible.

The Looper X2 is a dual-footswitch operated looper pedal aimed at providing fast loop creation with no shortage of space to save your favorite tracks and samples. With 11 song banks, each bank featuring 7 save slots, the Looper X2 provides a total of 300 minutes recording time (2.5 mins per slot in bank 1-9, 10 min each in bank 10, 11). Each slot also corresponds to common song structures as to make organizing sections and tracks easier, as indicated on the front of the pedal. Save slots and recorded tracks can also be managed using the specialized editor software that can be downloaded for free, and compatible with Mac and Windows PCs.

Additional features of the Looper X2 include a FADE knob for controlling and toggling the Fade out function for each loop. Notes: MOOER has unveiled its latest effect pedal innovation, the MVP1 AUTUNER vocal processor. Unlike most of MOOER's products, this pedal is designed primarily for use with vocals, offering precise pitch correction and exceptional vocal enhancement features. However, MOOER hasn't forgotten about its primary audience, so AUTUNER still provides features that will interest guitarists.

Due to the pedal's primary focus on vocals, the device includes several features specifically designed for microphone usage. This includes XLR input and output, in addition to support for 48V phantom power, ensuring that the pedal supports both dynamic and condenser microphones. However, AUTUNER also includes standard 1/4" guitar inputs and outputs, along with convenient footswitch control to switch between mixed or individual signals.

The pitch correction features behind AUTUNER are highly versatile. With an LED button, users can choose between flat, warm, and bright vocal tones, each indicated by a different colour. Once a tone has been chosen, the 'correction' dial can be used to define the sensitivity of the pitch correction. Users can also press and hold the left footswitch to trigger the pitch correction's vocal synthesizer mode.

AUTUNER's versatility shines particularly brightly thanks to its built-in effects modules. The first of these is delay; the delay module can be can controlled with its dedicated dial, with users having the option to choose between tape delay, digital delay, slapback delay, or bypass. The pedal's left footswitch serves as a tap switch, which allows the user to determine the speed of the delay module.

A reverb module is also featured within AUTUNER. This too has its own dedicated dial, which can be used to morph between room delay, hall delay, and plate delay. Whilst the pitch correction features of the pedal are limited only to vocals, these delay and reverb modules ensure that the pedal has plenty of dedicated features to offer MOOER's guitarist fanbase.

As is common with MOOER products, AUTUNER features a wide range of control mechanisms. In addition to the left footswitch's dual functionality, the right footswitch also acts as a bypass for the pitch correction and effects, whilst still ensuring the tone processing remains active. The pedal's tonal enhancements can then be fully bypassed with the 'flat' tone option.

In addition to its core features, the MVP1 AUTUNER also includes a gain dial, a 48V phantom power switch for internal microphone amplification, a grounding switch, and a DC 9V 500mA power input. Notes: BOSS's iconic DD-3 Digital Delay has been a pedalboard staple since 1986, loved everywhere for its great sound and simple operation. With the DD-3T, we've updated the classic stomp with enhanced functionality while fully retaining the original's sound and control layout. It's now possible to tap in delay tempos using the onboard switch or an external one, with your choice of three beat subdivisions. And the direct output jack has been moved next to the main output, providing easier connectivity for wet/dry setups.

In continuous production for over three decades, the DD-3 has been the go-to delay stomp for countless players. Based on the DD-2-the world's first digital delay pedal from 1983-the DD-3 is revered for its warm, round delay tone and simple controls that let you dial in sounds fast. The DD-3T's sound circuitry and controls are identical to the DD-3, delivering every drop of that classic vibe you know and love.

A key addition the DD-3T brings is tap tempo, an essential feature for creating the rhythmic delay effects at the heart of many guitar styles. In delay mode, hold the pedal switch for two seconds to toggle between bypass and tap operation. And for on-demand tap control, simply connect an external footswitch. When the DD-3T receives tap input, up to 800 ms of delay time is available, and the Mode knob sets the tap subdivision (quarter-note triplet, dotted-eighth note, or quarter note).

The DD-3T features a direct output jack like the DD-3, but it's been moved next to the main output jack to make connections easier. Plugging a cable into the direct out converts the main out to delay only, allowing you to send wet and dry signals to different amps for wide, immersive sounds. And if your amp or switcher has a parallel effects loop, just connect a dummy plug to the direct out to mute the dry sound for effect-only blending.

The original DD-3 (and DD-2 before) included a forward-thinking Hold function, which allowed you to capture a sound up to 800 ms long, play it continuously, and jam over the top. Many years later, BOSS further developed this creative concept with the successful Loop Station products, which helped spawn the new musical style of live looping. The DD-3T includes the same Hold function as the DD-3, but it's been renamed "Short Loop" to reflect today's common usage.

Notes: The Blumes is an overdrive based on the Plumes circuit that is ideal for bass players and all purveyors of low-end. While embodying the key characteristics and features of the Plumes, EQD went ahead and modified this circuit with double the gain and a deeper bass response to retain all the low end.

At lower gain settings, you'll get all of the crunchy tone you love about the original, but once you get above noon on the Gain control, that's where the similarities stop.

This all-analogue tri-mode overdrive with soft clipping carries the torch of the classic screamer circuit but has a voice all its own. And thanks to its +/- power supply it utilizes bipolar power, which gives you more dynamics, clarity, and all the headroom you could ever desire. The end result is a more three-dimensional tone with added clarity that really pushes a nice tube amp over the edge.

Notes: The Chthonic Fuzz (pronounced: Thawnic) creates fat, corpulent, fudgy, sludgy, fuzz tones that pair perfectly with single-coil, P90, gold-foil, and De-Armond style pickups. It also works great with PAF-style humbuckers, but this fuzz was designed with brighter guitars and amps in mind.

Starting with a beloved a single-knob '70's fuzz circuit, DOD experimented with adding a subtle tone control (Lustre), and then a separate gain control (Fuzz). This yielded a simple yet powerful fuzz with an earthy, dark flavour. Straight-up transistor clipping using a pair of 2N2222 transistors allows guitar volume knob clean-up like other classic fuzzes, but the Chthonic comes from a different dimension. Think of it as a kind of Colorsound Overdriver from an alternate universe.

Notes: Vintage tape-style delay smaller than a cassette player!

Tape delay is loved for its warmth and charming imperfections compared to pristine digital delays. Their preamps could be pushed to saturation and, over time, the tape in vintage delay units would degrade causing a signature warble loved by many. These signature elements are captured and packed into Electro-Harmonix's Pico Rerun tape delay. Based off the tape delay algorithm found in the Canyon Delay & Looper, the Rerun gives vintage vibes with modern features.

The Rerun features a simple control set and tap tempo for ease of use in any situation. BLEND sets the wet/dry blend. DELAY adjusts the delay time from 8ms to 3s. SAT adds tape saturation and distortion for added crunch to only the wet signal, keeping your dry signal unaffected by the added distortion. FDBK sets the level of repeats from 1 to infinite for runaway oscillation. You can also press and hold the footswitch to engage infinite repeats in an instant. The FLUTTER mode switch toggles between low, medium, and heavy modulation effects ranging from slight chorusing to seasick thickness.

Tap Tempo is simple and easy to use. Just press and release the footswitch at least two times to set the tempo and the LED will blink to confirm your tap tempo. Additionally, the Rerun also features selectable Tails bypass allowing echoes to continue after putting the pedal into bypass.

Notes: For over 30 years, the Nobels ODR-1 overdrive pedal has become a renowned classic and has developed cult-like status among guitarists worldwide. Seen as an indispensable staple in many professional setups, the pedal has become an industry standard that is widely imitated, but seldom surpassed.

The new Nobels ODR-1X is the next generation of this now legendary overdrive, heralding a new chapter in the Nobels overdrive legacy. Due to popular demand, a convenient external bass cut pot has been added, as well as the option to change between true bypass or buffered bypass. For hi-gain aficionados, a new switchable hi-gain boost is also now available. This is capable of transforming ODR-1X into a true hard rock monster. With the ability to control both the gain boost and bypass remotely, along with the unique SPECTRUM tone control, fold-out Mounty-P mounting plates and knobs with fluorescent 'Glow in the Dark' pointers, the ODR-1X adds worthwhile flexibility and utility to a time-tested favourite.

For extended ease of use, the internal Bass Cut feature originally included in the ODR-1BC is now available as an external variable control right on the face of the pedal. This allows for complete optimisation of the pedal's bass response on the fly, at the simple turn of a knob. The flexibility of this new additional control compliments Nobels' unique and renowned SPECTRUM tone control, which alters the proportion of both the low-mid and high frequencies simultaneously. At midday, the frequencies remain almost untouched. However, moving from the minimum to maximum positions will deliver variations in frequency response that are suitable for a wealth of musical tastes and styles.

ODR-1X also now features the ability to switch between True Bypass and Buffered Bypass via a mini switch that is located within the top loading battery compartment. True Bypass gives the maximum tonal purity. While players who are using longer cable runs, can switch to Buffered Bypass mode to preserve high frequencies. No matter what Bypass mode you choose, you also have the functionality of being able to switch the pedal on and off and control the new Gain Boost feature remotely via the pedal's TRS connection.

The pedal operates at standard 9 V DC, however if run at 18 V, this allows ODR-1X to deliver increased dynamic headroom. As with all Nobels pedals, the ODR-1X features integrated Mounty-P Mounting Plates for safe and secure attachment to pedalboards.

Notes: The Fundamental Delay provides you with the core sounds of repeated effects. With three delay algorithms, you can go from clean digital feedback to an analogue delay emulation, as well as reversing your trails.

Time slider controls the rate of the delayed repeats.

Feedback slider sets the number of repeats.

Mix controls the mix of the effect and the original clean signal. All the way to the left outputs a fully clean signal, and all the way to the right outputs only the delay repeats.

The slide switch allows you to change between three distinct delay algorithms:

Digital: add a clean rhythmic delay back into your signal, with transparent repeats.
Analogue: add a filtered and slightly distorted delay back into your signal, designed to replicate the characteristics of bucket brigade delay chips.
Reverse: add reversed trails back into your signal, create gentle melodies, or push into reverse feedback overload.
Tap Mode: To enter tap mode, hold down the bypass stompswitch until you see the LED flashing. Once it is flashing, tap mode is engaged and the stomp switch will only work as a tap tempo until tap mode is disengaged. While tap mode is engaged, adjusting the program Slide Switch will only change the division of the tap control, and not the delay program. To disengage tap mode, hold down bypass again until you see the LED turn back to solid white. The pedal will remember the tempo you have tapped in until adjusted again by either the time control or another tempo is tapped in.

Trails Modes: The Delay comes with trails mode active by default, to disengage trails mode hold down the bypass stomp switch when applying power to the pedal. Once the LED flashes it indicates that trails mode is turned off. To re-engage trails mode, repeat the process, and wait for the LED to turn dark, indicating that trails mode is back on. With trails mode active, your delay repeats will fade off naturally after turning the pedal off. With trails mode inactive, the decay abruptly cuts off when you turn off the pedal.

Notes: MOOER burst onto the music products scene in 2010 and has been impressing guitarists ever since. However, the company has expanded it's horizons this year with its VP vocal processing pedal series. The MVP2 Harmonier is a powerful example of this - it's a versatile and innovative vocal processor pedal designed to elevate both vocal and guitar performance, offering tonal precision, creativity, and convenience in one compact pedal.

At its core, the pedal offers a versatile pitch harmonizer effect. The 'Key' dial allows users to choose to harmonize their important with any note in the chromatic scale, with the 'Sharp' LED button being used to select sharp notes. Once chosen, the 'Mode' dial facilitates further customization, offering 11 different harmony modes that control the harmony's interval. This includes all classic intervals such as octaves, fifths, and thirds.

The 'Level' dial adjusts the volume of the harmonizer effect, but Harmonier offers even further tonal flexibility thanks to its reverb function. Users can press and hold the 'Sharp' button while rotating the 'Level' dial, which allows them to adjust the volume of the pedal's internal reverb module. The pedal also offers tone modes: flat, warm, and bright. These can be controlled by activating the pedal's unique 'hidden mode' and using the 'sharp' button.

'Hidden mode' is activated by pressing and holding both of the pedal's footswitches, but this is just one example of Harmonier's unique control system. The left footswitch can be held to save effect presets, and pressed to scroll through 7 preset slots. The right footswitch can be pressed to turn on the pedal's effects, pressed again to isolate the reverb, and held to turn off all effects except for the tone setting.

Unlike most of MOOER's pedal offerings, Harmonier supports both XLR and 1/4" inputs and outputs. These can be used in 'mixed mode' by holding the right footswitch whilst plugging in the power supply or repeating this action again to switch to 'individual mode', which isolates the signals to their given ports.

Alongside its fundamental functionalities, the pedal features a gain dial, a 48V phantom power switch designed for internal microphone amplification, a grounding switch, and a DC 9V 500mA power input. Notes: Last year in 2023, MOOER released its Prime Stomp S1 multi-effects pedal, to great critical acclaim. The device expanded on MOOER's previous pedalboard creations, applying a more sleek, lightweight, and, most importantly, chargeable design. Now, the company is turning heads once again with the Prime Minimax M1, an upgraded device that improves functionality not only for electric guitarists, but for bassists too.

Packed inside the Prime Minimax M1 are 149 high-quality effect models across 10 banks, each of which contains 4 patches. These include amp and cabinet simulations and overdrives, along with dynamic, modulation, delay, reverb, and EQ effects, as well as empty user slots. Most notably, though, 20 of the amp and cabinet simulations have been curated specifically for bass guitarists, showing MOOER's dedication to providing support for this additional audience.

As with the Prime Stomp S1 and other recent MOOER multi-effects pedals, the Prime Minimax M1 is supported by the MOOER Cloud, a cutting-edge framework for preset sharing. Not only does this allow guitarists to customize and share their favourite M1 creations via the Bluetooth-compatible MOOER Prime app, but it also supports the importing of third-party IR files of up to 512pts. As a result, the 149 built-in effects are greatly expanded, with users able to simulate their favourite classic amplifiers, cabinets, and tones, whether they have downloaded them online or recorded the IRs themselves.

Taking an all-in-one approach to guitar practice and performance, the M1 also includes a built-in drum machine, complete with 40 different drum grooves and 10 metronomes. This goes hand-in-hand with the 80-second looper, with which guitarists can record electric and bass guitar phrases, play them back, and overdub them, all with simple footswitch presses. The looper can even be triggered automatically through signal detection, ensuring that loops always begin perfectly to form a perfect loop. Moreover, the looper can also be synced with the drum machine, a combination of which results in an all-in-one suite for songwriting.

Rather than the four footswitches found on the Prime Stomp S1, the Minimax M1 features just two footswitches, facilitating a more compact and streamlined design. Each footswitch is multi-functional, supporting a variety of tasks, such as browsing preset slots, triggering loop recordings, activating the device's built-in tuner, the tap tempo functionality, and interacting with the drum machine. The status and information of these features are visualized through the device's LED screen, along with indicators for Bluetooth activation, charging, battery life, and footswitch status. Two buttons are also provided-one to activate the drum machine and another for the device's power toggle.

In contrast to MOOER's recent flagship device, the GE1000 Li, the Prime series focuses heavily on portability and compactness. Weighing up at just 190g and 12cm in length, the Minimax M1 can fit comfortably into any backpack and most pockets, facilitating on-the-go guitar practice and performance. To add to this convenience, the M1 can be charged by USB through its built-in 2000mAh lithium battery. As a result, with the device's portability, guitarists can truly use this multi-effect pedal anywhere, anytime.

Continuing MOOER's reputation for providing flexible audio routing options, the design of the Prime Minimax M1 inputs and outputs are varied. Of course, the usually 14" mono input and 14" stereo output are available, as well as the 3.5mm output for headphone practice and monitoring. However, further options are available, such as Bluetooth 5.0 support for audio playback, allowing users to stream audio from another device to play along with. The device's USB-C port can even be used for OTG recording, allowing users to record their creations directly into the MOOER Prime mobile app.

Overall, the Prime Minimax M1 is yet another welcome addition to the pedal producer's range of multi-effects pedals. In particular, it marks a new level of portability for MOOER's device portfolio, showing just how much functionality its design team can pack into such a small box.

Notes: The Arrows is an all-discrete tone sculpting preamp booster. It was designed with the intention of adding an additional channel of gain to all your dirt pedals as well as brightening up neck pickups. It boosts midrange, tightens up the low end and makes the top end shine while adding some push to drive your dirt into blooming sustain with excellent harmonics. Its simple interface is no nonsense; a single control that will either boost or cut your signal. Use the Arrows to remove the muck from bass heavy fuzz pedals, push light overdrives into higher gains than you thought possible or even on its own to make your signal really pop with more pizazz. All analog, true bypass and handmade one at a time in the weird pit of Akron, Ohio.
