Review: The festive season is just around the corner and nothing makes a friend or family gathering more magical that a damn good soundtrack. The people behind the long-running and frankly legendary NOW series have been putting together the best collections of genre music for decades now so you need to look no further than this bumper Christmas-themed collection. It comes across no fewer than six - yes six - sides of vinyl and covers all bases from the age-old classics to some of the newer tunes to have been added to the wintry canon.

Review: Re-issue of the 1987 Profile Records holiday compilation in a red and white split colored pressing, with songs by Run-DMC, Dana Dane, Sweet Tee, The Showboys, The Surf M.C.s, Spyder-D, and more. Leading off with the Run-DMC smash, 'Christmas In Hollis', this classic Christmas compilation features some of the hottest rap artists of the era, celebrating the holidays, hip-hop style. Highlights include Dana Dane's 'Dana Dane Is Coming To Town', Sweet Tee's 'Let The Jingle Bells Rock' and even the Surf MC's' 'A Surf MC New Year,' adding a California surfer (and, ahem, Beastie Boys rip-off) twist to the proceedings. Not to be overlooked is the classic front and back cover artwork, featuring a gift-wrapped B-Boy. It remains an essential, evergreen (pun intended) holiday album to this day.

Review: The very next year after the original Oi! The Album compilation was released in 1980 saw the second instalment Strength Thru Oi! dropped onto the heads of the masses, and more than four decades on, it looks like folk might need another reminder. A topic of controversy upon initial release due to the use of an image of Nicky Crane, a British Movement activist who was serving a four-year sentence for racist violence at the time, on the cover art, original pressings are like gold dust these days as the release was withdrawn from publication by Decca Records. Now that the smoke has cleared, we can all wet shave our scalps, lace up our steel-toes, grab our dirtiest combat jacket and punch the ever loving shit out of the air to anthems from the seminal likes of The 4 Skins, Cock Sparrer, The Toy Dolls and The Last Resort (to name but a small handful), with little in the ways of reprimand.
