'Here we go again with the funky intro!' New York City's X-Coast inaugurates the new Underthesea imprint run by Grego: the Berlin based dynamo from Barcelona described as the 'official ambassador of mermaid techno'. Over the last couple of years, he's been DJing for some of the most underground queer dancefloors in Berlin, particularly at local institution Schwuz where he's a regular. Serbian born, Brooklyn-based musician Bojan Cizmic serves up more borrowed nostalgia from the forgotten '90s on the Jupiter Jazz transmissions of "Transformations" which would make even Mad Mike stand up and notice, while "Groove La Coast" is full of all the trademarks: hands in the air organ stabs, swing fuelled beats and breaks plus jacked vocals. On the flip, the adrenalised throwback trance aesthetic of "Mu Tai" will take you to the days of Frankfurt circa the mid '90s when The Omen or Dorian Gray reigned supreme. The deep remix by the one and only Borrowed Identity sure 'ain't bad either. We're right behind Grego on this one and can't wait for what's in store next.
