For those who've only succumbed to the alien, intergalactic sounds of electro in the last few years, Arpanet is an occasional alias of Drexciya founder member Gerald Donald. While all of his work has an air of faceless, technology-driven mystique, his infrequent Arpanet releases are arguably more otherworldly than most. That's certainly the case with the two tracks here, which first featured on a now hard-to-find multi-artist EP in 2018. 'Supernova Remnant' is a creepy, unsettling chunk of starry ambient, with bleeping, lo-fi melodic refrains and off-kilter electronic bass sashaying in and out of ghostly chords. 'Main Sequence Star', meanwhile, is a little more rhythmic and throbbing but similarly beat-free: alien ambient from the farthest reaches of our galaxy (well, Detroit).
