Minotaur (5:56)
Execute (6:12)
Warriah (4:15)
Spirit Chaser (8:07)
Review: Bristol producer Arcane makes a monumental debut on Over/Shadow here with four tracks that have Brady caused plenty of carnage on global dancefloors. 'Minotaur' kicks off with a flurry of snares that are so snappy they will break your neck. 'Execute' is another dense packed rhythmic workout with blasts of horn, dark bass and drilling drum work while 'Warriah' then floats above then dancelfoor with its paranoid pads and stepping broken beat rhythms. This most high impact and physical of EPs shuts down with 'Spirit Chaser', a more pad laced cut but one that is no less driving.

Lucid Dream (8:07)
Review: ASC is a Jedi level sound designer who has a broad range. The man born James Clements debuts on 2 Bad Mice's Over/Shadow label with another top drawer tracker. It is packed with sonic alchemy, atmospheric ambient moods and slick jungle rhythms. 'Slow Down' is drenched in celestial rain, with crashing breakbeats powering onwards as the melodies fight to keep you transfixed. Over on the other side of this heavyweight white slab of wax is 'Lucid Dream', a more crunchy stepper but one that again is doused in deep space ambiance.

Crystal Flash (6:11)
Fireflies (6:34)
Review: ***B-STOCK: Sleeve damaged but otherwise in excellent condition***

Cosmic jungle producer ASC will likely never cease to dazzle; and what with the number of records he's pressed in recent years, the rate of petrochemical fire is currently rapider than a techno-modded Tommy gun, to the extent that we're beginning to worry about Thailand's pellet-producing capacity. Concerns over prolificness aside, new one for Over/Shadow 'Crystal Flash' is yet another exo-transmissive freneticism, pairing bright, cluster-toned string apotheoses with hard-limited, pray-to-god amen breaks, and topping both these off with a mind-bendingly telescopic phase filtration on the master channel, sounding like the sonic equivalent of a distant, anomalous nova, the medial sight of which breaks the expectation of a redshift. B-sider 'Fireflies' provides swell contrast, its breaks and high pads moving and pistoling with less ultimate, more technical alacrity, carving out a wry breathing space in the otherwise asphyxial vacuum of space.

Sixth Sense (6:57)
Review: ASC is one of the most deft studio hands out there if you ask us. Each time he drops new heat he backs that up and this time is no different. This two track 12" opens with 'Black Rain' which is powered by crashing amen breaks and dark ambiance. It's heavy and moody and distant vocal cries bring subtle human soul. 'Sixth Sense' is another trademark sounds from this drum & bass don withers haunting sense of emotion and heavy breaks once again making for a fascinating duality. There really is no denying the magic of ASC on this one.

Close Your Eyes (7:03)
Destroyer (VIP) (5:44)
Review: Exclusive! Over Shadow unleash these two super-hot rarities from around 93/94. Both big tunes on dubplate at the time, especially 'Close Your Eyes' which was a big tune in Fabio's early Speed sets, they finally see the vinyl light of day after all these years. 'Close Your Eyes' is a beautiful atmospheric whirlwind while 'Destroyer VIP' lived up to its name. Still sounding heavier than a helicopter over 30 years later.

Review: Forever paying forward: Detboi swaggers over from Headz to Over/Shadow with three powerful multi-tempo breakbeat escapades. 'Into The Shadows' and 'Out The Light' take the lead as an awesome game of shades, playing a beguiling timeless jungle Q&A as Detboi digs deep into the foundations. 'Dark Energy' digs even deeper with its super spaced out 130 BPM halftime style. Dense in textures and hypnotic heaviness, it's the perfect fit on Over/Shadow and a great tease for his long-awaited album.

Review: Veteran and pioneer DJ Trax returns to Over/Shadow with three ageless space escapades. The voluminous space and clarity around the breaks sets the scene on each track. Superb breakscraft throughout, 'Polar Opposite' is all about the intergalactic aesthetic, 'Out Of Love' is dark soul to the core with a strong Headzian twist to the vocal while 'Hands Of Time' rolls on much chunkier, rolling breaks and a euphoric trance-like arpeggio. Trax never lost his hardcore.

Review: DJ Trax takes perfect stock his sonic journey so far across this superb new album, Break From Reality. It features everything we have come to know and love from the man - rolling breaks, jazzy licks, hip-hop stylings and cinematic synths - but all served up in new and highly compelling ways. Dons of the game like Goldie and Loy have already been digging it and we are too, from the mad and unrelenting drum flurry of the opener to soul drenched breaks like 'Flame' and the acid jazz/4Hero era throwback sounds of 'Long Rhode Home' and its lush broken beats. A richly rewarding drum & bass album from one of the best in the game right now.

Point To Prove (6:59)
Always (Ricky Force remix) (6:09)
Soul Fire (Nookie/Binary State remix) (7:02)
Review: Sometimes it all just gets too much, and we need to take a Break From Reality. Or so the most recent album from DJ Trax suggested - albeit its sound evoked a skew towards the murkier, more nervous and dubious aspects of psychic burnout. The atmospheric drum & bass brilliant's eponymous album was released in 2023 and plunged the abyssal depths of the inner cosmos, in so doing playing up the straighter grooves gleanable from jungle. These three new ones, however, surface from the depths somewhat, adding a new original ('Point To Prove') and two remixes from Ricky Force and Nookie & Binary State to the addendum. All tracks make for an impressively glassy, risen-and-fallen coda; by the end, we've completed a round-trip back to the depths.

Review: Dom & Roland was amongst the first to help Over/Shadow kick into gear back in 2020 and, since returning with another 12" last year, a collaboration with long absent legend DJ Crystl, now comes a fully-fledged album. Those following matters closely on the Over/Shadow site will have had the chance to nab a copy of the album with this bonus 12", but for the rest of us, the double-drop of 'Eminence' and 'Time To Change' is now available as a standalone 12". It's brooding and dramatic, offering a cinematic vision of what d&b can be in the right hands, and who better than a seasoned pro like Dominic Angas?

Cold Summer (7:38)
Full Moon (6:05)
Review: Dom & Roland goes supercharged on his latest jungle batterer 'Cold Summer', a track fully defrocked of its subtleties or pieties. The tune goes full throttle, and is orchestral-stab-tastic. Both tracks on this release have so far been described, originally by Over/Shadow, as "wall slappers", which says it all. However, the B-side tune 'Full Moon' is rather different to the A's utter breaks steamrollage, instead working tricklingly watery pads about an angle-ground, techstep groove.

Fever Nights (6:52)
Stingray (5:51)
Review: Dominic Angas has tended to avoid returning to his 1990s roots, instead preferring to keep pushing forwards. Even so, his occasional outings for 2 Bad Mice's Over/Shadow label, which by design tip a wink to his earliest Dom & Roland productions on Moving Shadow, are always on-point and pleasingly nostalgic. His latest two-track missive for the imprint begins with 'Fever Nights', a formidably dark, metalling and mind-mangling affair that's as paranoid and doom-laden as they come - unsettling jungle brilliance all told. Some of that track's inherent tension is lifted by B-side workout 'Stingray', a no less weighty but more melodic affair built around distorted D&B breaks and rumbling sub-bass.

The Zero Point (6:49)
Review: Dom & Roland teams back up with DJ Crystl for the famous yet not-nearly-explored-well-enough duo project that is Dom/Crystl. As ever, the pair's penchant for dark and complex productions make for a monstrous new collab here. Titanic breaks are run through obscene levels of crunch on 'Stimulant', to a level which would make even the least purist sound engineers out there blush. 'The Zero Point' is equally paradigm-shifting, with raucously angry amens crudely paralleling a riff of eerie metallic impacts - as if we were witnessing the industrial backend of a post-apoc factory making obscene Mad Max weapons.

Review: Have the Over Shadow label released a dull record since their launch a few years back? Damn right they haven't. And now coaxing the legendary Flytronix out of retirement? They've just added a whole new set of levels on the respect-o-meter. Naturally these cuts are sounding every bit as fresh, inventive and exciting as 'First Encounta' and 'Shine A Rewind' did 30 years ago. Highlights are the militant staccato break edits on 'Journey To Xtraordinaire' and the emotional blasts of 'Night Breedz'. Welcome back Fly!

Drowning In Her (Sonar's Ghost remix) (5:56)
Review: 'Drowning In Her' is said to have climbed to heights of 'near mythical' status since its original release in 1993; always remaining a hidden favourite among serious collectors, it nonetheless saw a comparative resurgence after being written about in Simon Reynold's Energy Flash history-of-dance-music-book, in which the author interpreted the back-to-back use of wistful vocal samples as an implicit eulogy for a rave scene turned limp and wilted. Over/Shadow clearly disagree: they here reissue the original classic alongside a contemporary version from Sonar's Ghost, which has seen an almost equal amount of hype recently.

Review: Omni Trio man Robert Haigh's latest album has a couple of its standout cuts revisited and remixed by two top talents. 'Koto Line' and 'Secret Life of Waves' both came on the Creatures of the Deep LP on Unseen Worlds. First up is the one and only ASC with a gorgeously lush and widescreen Spatial remix of 'Koto Line' that will have you dreaming amongst the stars. Then on the flip comes an Aural Imbalance Spatial remix which is also one that takes you to the cosmos on lovely smeared pads and a suspensory bassline.

Deep Breath (6:19)
Review: Mr Deep Jungle takes a step away from his evergreen reissue / dubplate reviving imprint for a couple of breakbeat slap-abouts on Over/Shadow. 'Normal Function' is all about those full-on Amens that rattle and bang amid the tense, spooked-out textures in a way that you'd imagine Equinox hammering you with at 3am. Meanwhile on the B: 'Deep Breath' drives deeper into the 90s style with more of a steppier rhythm and some brilliant sci-fi dexterity. Think early Krust and you're in the right solar system.

Review: Loxy & Resound are a drum & bass dream team and they bring their heavy, rolling sound to this lush new yellow 12" on Over/Shadow. Their work nods to the classic Bukem sound with hints of late noughties mischief and plenty of club-ready rhythms and boarding late night atmospheres. Our pick is the super silky and minimal 'Atom Eve' with its cosmic overtones and flappy bass. There is more texture and physicality to 'Lost Samurai' while 'Divine Light' is a percussive stepper with astral intent.

Review: Over/Shadow continue to will some of the most exciting and timeless rave music into existence right now. This time with two label debutants Cologne's Marvel Cinema and New York City's 88 Katanas. Both sharing that ice cold vision and strong sense of space, there's a powerful vibe here which sits somewhere between the glacial parameters of Seba and Photek. Peak time hurters come courtesy of the big Metropolis-lie plunges of 'Titanium Blade' while more introspective moments can be found on the likes of 'Mood Response'. And that's just half of this beguiling story...

Review: Now here's a blast from the foundation past... Mixrace was the first act from the legendary crate digger and breakbeat scientist Paradox who, alongside DJ Trax and Leke Aerosoul formed a groundbreaking crew who were a few years ahead of the Prodigy with their genre-melting fusion. Now reformed over 30 years later, Paradox and Trax lay down pure glacial gold over two sides. 'Myosphere' goes in cold with deep freeze pads and heavily swung breaks while 'Stillness' hits a little harder with the emotional elements. Looking forward to what this new reunion brings next!

Nookie - "Got Soul" (5:17)
Review: Having emerged in the early 90s with a substantial body of work on Moving Shadow (especially under the alias Cloud 9) It was only a matter of time before the legend that is Nookie made an appearance on 2BadMice's new Over/Shadow imprint. Naturally it's a high impact label debut that flexes the full range he's known for... 'Love Less Chaos' sees him linking up with one of the most exciting and prolific singers currently operating in the new-generation of songwriting talents in D&B Ruth Royall for a jazzy workout that's highly reminiscent of Metalheadz in the mid 90s. Flip for 'Got Soul', a more Cloud 9-style piano vibe-out with some classic vocal samples weaved gently into the mix. Moneymaker-shakingly good.

Review: It was only a matter of time before Andrew Ferguson made his debut on 2 Bad Mice's Over/Shadow; his tenure in the game, his authenticity, his lack of compromise and his timelessness as an artist (both as Outrage and his more 140-oriented alias Nomine) is a perfect fit. Here are two examples; 'Goodbye' says hello with oceanic waves of disarming pads, bellowing subs and spacious breaks while 'In The Dark' brings a little more 1990 unity vibes thanks to the sensual vocal and subtle piano charm. Outrageously good.

Review: Dev Pandya is Paradox, an artist who's fine career started back in 1992 as part of Mixrace on Moving Shadow. Back then the breakbeats and jungle he was making weren't considered vintage, but now it is, and for fans of that sound the fact he is still turning out the same sort of sounds is great news. After a top 12" on this label in August, he ends his year with a return that features two more perfectly assembled tunes. 'Nord' is clean, mechanical and heavy stepping material with plunging bass and 'Kenai' is a more fluid breakbeat that is doused in cosmic synth warmth.

Review: Long time Canadian Headz stalwart Rolodex spins back round to Over/Shadow for this dizzying spectrum of junglist dynamics. 'Seeing Around Corners' sets such an ominous tone with its booming bottom end, militant drummage and jazzy flurries. The rest of the EP hits just as hard; 'Go Don't Go' is an oily roller, 'Thicc Boi' goes hard on the 45 King break, smashing it into oblivion while 'Wiretap' closes with chiselled steppy affirmation. Furious funk.

Sliding (5:13)
Review: There's something pleasingly direct and effervescent about the material released by 2 Bad Mice's Over/Shadow imprint, which presents new works from artists once associated with the Moving Shadow label and a handful of 'like-minded artists'. D&B/dubstep fusionist Sully (real name Jack Stevens) falls into the latter category, though the giddy retro-futurism on display on his latest two-tracker is undeniably in-keeping with the back-to-the-future feel of Over/Shadow's output. For proof, check out A-side '5ives', where dark synth-string stabs and horror-influenced electronics ride a wobbling dubstep bassline and savagely edited, revivalist jungle breaks. Over on the flip, 'Sliding' is a bongo-heavy, 'Apache' drum-break fired roller full of vintage, Snivilisation-era Orbital references and buzzing, effects-laden stabs.

Y Melt
Review: With this rock-solid two-tracker, Mark Caro AKA Technical Itch becomes the latest former Moving Shadow family member to join 2BadMice's Over/Shadow label. Caro begins by exploring his 1990s jungle roots on X-side workout 'Another Life', wrapping creepy electronics, rowdy riffs, ghostly melodies and aggressive around a crunchy, chopped and edited Amen break. He goes even darker, sweatier and creepier on flipside 'Melt, which doffs a cap the pre-jungle 'darkcore' era - all horror movie soundtrack textures, paranoid chords, deep sub, increasingly intense strings and breathless breakbeats. Both tracks feel like unreleased jams recorded in the early-to-mid 1990s, though almost certainly aren't. Either way, it's a terrific musical blast from the past.

Review: Mark Caro aka Technical Itch has got a brand new full-length on the way but before that, he teases what to expect with this lead single. He is already well respected as a dark arts drum & bass don and once again lays down some blistering amen breaks here. 'Fear + Fantasy' is an eight-minute exhilarator with unending drums and a sinister low end. There is no let up on 'Another Time' although the sone is more of a menacing stepper that takes you through debate urban landscapes, decay and unknown mischief. On this evidence, the LP is going to be crucial.

Review: Vromm is back on the Over/Shadow label with a new EP of spaced out and cosmic electronic energy. 'Molecular' is a restless mix of breaks and jungle effects, lots of squelchy sonic details and off-grid hits. 'Prism' is a moody and stripped back one with a minimal rhythm but plenty of gliding synth tension in the air then Kid Drama steps up to flip the opening cut into a rolling stomper with big horns. 'Zoom' closes out with more shiny metal surfaces, distant buzz saws and glistening melodies over a loose, jumbled rhythm.
