Review: For its 30th release, Persephonic Sirens has this arresting new album from Codex Empire across four sides of vinyl. It explores a brave new techno world where dystopian nightmares collide with club-ready grooves and textural synth work defines each track. 'With Fire I Carve' is a blistering sound with nervy, edgy synth tension, 'Alsatia The Lower' is a hard techno monster with screwy synths and flat-footed drums and 'Transient Phantom' is a tunnelling sound with stark sound designs and an atmosphere that is pregnant with darkness and unease.

Dr Phil Omanski - "Young Birds" (feat DJ Weirdo - 3 Steps Ahead remix) (5:46)
Review: DJ Sim and Dr. Phil Omanski are the focal point in the fourth part of the extremely successful series, Hardcore Legends. Officially crowning themselves as such, Hardcore Legends details the best of this dream production duo's gargantuan 4x4 UK hardcore hams, bringing all the classics to a thick, weighty slab of 180 gram audiophile quality vinyl. Including the feedback-buzzing, sample-choppy, no-patience prodder 'Young Birds'; the maddeningly chipmunk-voxxed repeater 'Go Get Busy'; and the lesser-spotted, but equally menacing centre-stage-kicker 'Cartoons In Progress'; this is a veritable compendium of slasher-era UK hardcore, of a distinct time in which artists and promoters would revel in the use of horror and comic-book imagery to satisfy the wanting desires of their devoted diehards.

Review: Charming post-gabber connections from Fish & Rice aka Hellfish (King of Ironfist) and Akira (Ricemaster). Go Fuck Yourself goes with the epic synopsis of a sordid culinary horror: our deuteragonists Fish and Rice once again must defeat the tyrannical lord Pink Fist using stolen weapons-grade audio care packages, hacked from the data banks of Iron Prime (we can only guess what this means, exactly). Edacious in theme, this is an erratic, (sea) bass dropper of an LP, with not a single given eff in sight. 'Fish Ramen Gabba', 'Rice-Fish' and 'Do You Cook' serve poisson poisons of hardcore tok kicks and citrusy supersaw sound design, causing our faces to scrunch up in olfactory delight.

Review: Forthright and formidable dance music specialist Ganez The Terrible has been releasing music for 25 years, so to celebrate the Frenchman has decided to offer-up a double-pack of some of his favourite remixes of other artists' work. There's much to set the heart racing and the blood pumping throughout, from the gnarled and nasty bounce of his rework Radium's 'Piss on Me' (some people pay good money for that etc) and a surging, child-scaring rework of Dr Chekill's 'Metamoprhosys', to a charred tech-trance take on Alex Jockey's 'Technosfera' and a blistering, funk-fuelled 'hardtek' revision of DJ Flint's 'I Bust It'. If you prefer hard, fast and sweaty techno, it's a collection that you'll genuinely enjoy.

Review: Jacidorex is a techno producer who has been active on the scene since the mid-noughties and known for his signature acid-infused sound. He has released numerous EPs and albums over the years on various labels including Acid Night, Obs.Cur, and Smashead Records and is back with another album - UNFACED01. This one sees the Belgian DJ/producer pushing the boundaries of the genre even further, with his signature brand of dynamic hypnotic acid patterns. It begins with a cinematic introduction before opening into a hip-hop track, which then swiftly transitions into electro, industrial and trance influences throughout.

Review: It's time acid hardcore made a comeback, and there's arguably no better candidate to lead the revolution than one of the genre's most respected pushers, Robert Babicz aka. Rob Acid. Of course, LSD tastes better when it's stolen - and likewise, these 12 tracks are relics of an era whose spirit will always be with us and all of them are lifted from earlier releases put out at different points in the artist's career. You've got the wide-clapping 'Acid Bites Aka Acid Warrior', the hooverphonic 'Homeless', and the relentless Marc Romboy collab 'Wall Of Drums' all on there. Bring it on.
