Review: After a pair of 12" selectors' teasers, the full edition of Tectonic Sound stands poised to plot a new course for Pinch's long-running Bristol label, pulling a drawstring on a freshly foraged crock of producer talent alongside with cured and matured names from its past. The 24-tracker welcomes first-timers like Re:ni, Beatrice M., Yushh, Flora Yin Wong and Sicaria, as well as cornerstone figures such as 2562, Shed and Distance. Nearly all contributions were made with the label's DNA in mind: bass-led electronics working the fault line between dubstep, techno and broken rhythms. "More so than just the sound, the music is in tune with the real ethos of the early dubstep scene," says Pinch. "It's led by hearts really."

Review: Now two decades deep, dubstep proliferators Tectonic celebrate with The Tectonic Sound, a 24-track manifesto spread across six 12"s, seismically shuttering any competition on a continental scale. Founded in 2005 by Bristol system sojourner DJ Pinch, the label has long straddled dubstep, techno, and the outer reaches of dub and bass music. Now several new fissures are calved open by Re:ni, Yushh, Sicaria, Flora Yin-Wong and Beatrice M., all of whom appear astride foundation shakers RSD, Om Unit, Kahn & Neek, and Peverelist. Almost all were written specifically with Tectonic in mind, not just its sound but its sensibility, echoing the early Skreams, Digital Mystikzes and Jokers that defined a certain subjective experience of dance music, not once erasable.

VIVEK - "Gone W3st"
Review: Two decades in, the Bristol-born institution still sounds like the future. This wide-ranging compilation gathers new blood and familiar faces into a deep, weighty journey across techno, dubstep and adjacent frequencies, dialling in a vision that feels both forward-looking and steeped in sound system tradition. Standouts include Re:ni's tightrope-tensioned roller, Sicaria's deconstructed club mutations and Beatrice M.'s finely sculpted rhythmic hypnosis-each debuting on the label. Elsewhere, Kahn & Neek return with militant low-end drive, while Om Unit and RSD summon familiar ghosts of the Tectonic back catalogue in newly sharpened form. What unites it all is a spirit of clarity and pressure, true to DJ Pinch's guiding ethos: heads down, eyes closed, bass-first. It's not so much a retrospective as it is a fresh statement of purpose-24 tracks across six plates designed to test systems and point toward what's next.

Pinch & Neffa-T - "This Is This Isn't"
Review: Bristol's Tectonic honcho Pinch is celebrating 20 years of the dubstep and bass music recordings outfit with a fresh 24-track compilation, which of course has been further split into four EPs and counting to optimise bassweight and tonearm response. Pinch is reminiscent and proud: "It feels like Tectonic has been a part of so many communities. There's something instinctive that binds all the releases - something that goes beyond words." This fourth comp-selects highlights the work of midcomers in the scene, such as Kahn, Neek, Gemmy and Neffa-T, predominantly courting the 140s but indulging some experiments, with 'Motion Light' creaking through strange midnight bazaar SFX, and 'This Is This Isn't' going buckwild on hard-clip kicks and rib-tickling rims.

Review: At first we thought the latest Tectonic Sound compilation had been split into two, then four selectors' EPs, but this sixth edition functions to point out not one but two mistakes; there are six. This is just about the thoroughest divvying up of a full-length compilation we've ever come across, with every track on the full dubstep 24-tracker committed in analogue to its own groove. What ho, given the fact that dubstep is a genre demanding plate cutting for bass response par excellence, so the full compilation form does indeed make less sense for audiophiles, who *will* be able to hear the difference. This sixth selection hears the veteran dearests of Tectonic refire the classic dubstep oven, hearing the likes of RSD 'Roll Off' the tops through musicbox twinkles before high-cut wompage, and Distance bringing xenogenous sound design and serious mecha-dub dissent to 'Heresy'.

Review: Pinch's Bristol-based Tectonic stable marks a new chapter with Tectonic Sound, a six-part, 24-track vinyl series, discomancing an unknowable but part steerable future while also leaning on firmly implanted roots. Each 12" pairs longtime affiliates like Peverelist, RSD, Kahn & Neek and Om Unit with a sharp cast of first-timers, among them Flora Yin-Wong, Re:ni, Sicaria, Yushh and Beatrice M. What emerges is a restless sweep through low-end electronics that flirt with dub, techno, soundsystem pressure and textural detail, in a set shaped by the label's lineage but unbound by nostalgia. Most tracks were written specifically with Tectonic in mind, adding a sense of cohesion to a compilation that prizes forward motion and liminal spaces.

Review: New post-dubstep drastics from Tectonic Recordings, whose thwacking broken beat and dark garage stylings serve as expert material for the label's next phase. Tectonic Sound now launches as a six-part, 24-track vinyl series, of which two records have now been released in unison: alongside a first featuring Beatrice M, Cocktail Party Effect and Om Unit, this second one features cyber-bruk artist 2562, keygen system player Yussh, Punch Drunk favourite Appleblim and the perennial but rare orchid, Flora Yin Wong. 'Overcome' through to 'Virga' span the distinctive styles of each, beginning things on a numerological, tricky shuffle, and ending on a tugging ambient FX party.
