Review: Robsoul Recordings has continue on the rich tradition of superb France deep hose for many years after the first wave of artists and labels came and went. This third edition of its Classic Sampler series is another joyous one that opens up with the jazzy loops and soul-drenched house grooves of Demuir's 'From Paris To Strasbourg'. Vincent Caira's 'Back Again' is more solid and raw but no less heartfelt then Mo'Funk & Roland Clark cut lose with an unabashed piano sound on 'Bring Together' that will get hands in the air. Three timeless tracks that really tap into the original spirit of house music.

Review: Australia's it-guy nu-disco producer Mo'funk shares another caution-to-the-wind wax piece by way of his native label Only Cuts. His second release on the label following the nominally unspecified 'Only Cuts Vol. 1', this follow-up record has, by contrast, been termed a "slam jam", and prefers irreverent moods and r&b samples. The A2 'Lllove' is especially arresting, sampling LL Cool J's 'Loungin'' and working it into a perpetual firing of choppy, chicken pickin' guitar and lurching kicks.

Review: Australia's Mo'funk & Encee kick off their new label Only Cuts with a four-rack EP of swinging house grooves and bumpy garage 4×4, using familiar samples to ignite the dancefloor. 'Slick Talkin'' opens with filtered, arch vocal samples - specifically, "you need to get your ass on the dancefloor this minute" - while 'Desperado' follows with an intractable vocal sample come compelling rags-to-riches narration, evincing the fantasy of sheer gumption, bravado and wanting-it-enough in the capricious pursuit of success. 'Whattup' opens the B-side with a slower, but equally discoic and laserific lurch, while 'Bein' With You' reshapes the bodily workings of the floor again, this time by way of Brandy-esque vocal science and a dash of speed garage knock.

Review: French house tastemakers Robsoul return with four outstanding house tracks on vinyl by two talented Australian DJs. This collection features the most sought-after cuts from the three Secret Weapons projects which were originally available only digitally. Additionally, the release includes one exclusive, previously unreleased track, all of which bring these Australian DJs to a broader audience. 'When It Comes To Love' is a punchy one with sustained pads and classic sax, 'Let Me See You Work' is a nice loopy and lo-fi groove and 'Zone' and 'Movin' Up' close out with heady pads and feel-good vibes.
