Review: Opening on the grinding powerhouse of 'I', Kosmik Sun present three tracks of epic, cinematic heavy rock-metal which gives a nod to the likes of Mogwai and Explosions In the Sky. Albeit here things seem to have taken more of an influence from darker places, with each part of the triptych casting an eerie spell over the listener, transporting them to psychedelic, doom-laden otherworldly places. The side project of German aficionado Eugen Kohl, best known for the Crypt Witch project, Kosmik Sun also features members of Coven Spell and Devil Leaf, which, if nothing else, should let any newbies know exactly what they're in for. Steeped in deep stoner atmosphere, not to mention exceptional, gritty musicality, this is intensity for thinking people and it never lets up.

Review: Husband and wife singer-guitarist duo Lux Interior and Poison Ivy were the backbone and founding parents of The Cramps, whose lengthy career managed to outlive many of the formative-era punks they broke through with, first catapulting onto the New York gothabilly scene (well, arguably they invented it) circa 1976 and then only finally opting to call time in 2009, following the sad passing of Interior. During that tine, they inspired myriad garage, alternative, and heavy rock & roll bands that wanted to keep things minimal, and their work can still be considered as setting benchmarks today. Across this incredible collection of tracks, or rather Songs of Love & Hate captured live and on stage, the outfit certainly show exactly why their popularity was so long-lasting and their legacy so inimitable. You can hear elements of The Cramps in work from latter day legends such as Ezra Furman and Jim Jones, but ultimately there's nothing that comes remotely close the band themselves.

David Vanian, splitting off from his role as the lead singer of the Damned, once made an effective detour known as David Vanian and the Phantom Chords. The Chords' self-titled debut from 1995, reissued here, is a fusion of rockabilly and gothic rock - often classified as gothabilly. The band perform a mixture of covers and original material, including 'Voodoo Doll', 'The House Is Haunted' and 'Jezebel', laying down the massive, twangy, incipient sound of gothabilly with Vanian himself sounding as if to be singing in a massive catacomb's chasm.

The band, led by Kip Uhlhorn, is now back with this new self-titled album which his another widescreen exploration of the cosmic sonic realm. The band is now more than 20 years into their career and for this one embraced the future by collaborating with AI. Review: Pre-eminent Japanese noise rockers Les Rallizes Denudes have a complicated back catalogue which only adds to their enigmatic legacy, and here's another tantalising window into their chaotic sound. These psychedelic, lo-fi recordings hail from sessions in 1972 and 1980, with the A-side fully given over to the sprawling 23-minute 'Guitar Jam' - a potent exercise in driving riffs building to a monstrous crescendo. There is plenty more long form exploration to be found on the B-side, with 'A Tale Of Love' stretching out over 18 minutes before a previously unheard version of the band's classic 'Field Of Artificial Flowers', reordered during the 1972 Oz Days sessions.
