AAA (SAM reshape)
Btass
Review: After a strong 2014, in which he dropped two highly regarded EPs on his friend's CrazyJack label, Parisian producer Lowris pops up on Danish deep techno imprint Concealed Sounds. "AAA" sets the tone, with Lowris peppering a tough, undulating groove - replete with a chunky dub bassline - with all manner of cosmic noises, trippy effects and tipsy electronics. Delaphine regular S.A.M goes deeper on his "re-shape", which makes great use of liquid chords and heady melodies. Finally, "BTass" sees Lowris return to the dense, percussive style with which he made his name, turning in the sort of stripped-back drum jam that should ignite dancefloors that like it tough but minimal.

Consolidation (Sylphe Lydlos dub)
Consolidation
Review: Copenhagen-based Martinez launched Concealed Sounds last year as a platform for expressing the deeper and more experimental side of his house and techno productions. Given that the debut release swiftly sold out at Juno you can call it a rousing success, and this second release from Martinez for the label should prove similarly popular. Bucking convention it's the Sylphe Lydlos Dub from Sylphe pairing Holdie Gawn & Micawber that resides on the A Side, racking up a weighty thirteen minutes of trippy modular sound design in the vein of a playful Villalobos. The original is a few minutes shorter but comes packing a rather satisfying broken techno groove and some truly deep sub bass rhythms.

Delta Ditch
Under The Veil
Review: After two releases thus far from Martinez, Danish label Concealed Sounds reaches out to Michael Melchner who is fresh from appearances on Paragram and Do Easy amongst others. Minimal techno is the order of the day on this sturdy two tracker, with the A side given over to the stripped and punchy "Delta Ditch" which benefits from a prominent snare slap and some rumbling sub tones for its dancefloor dynamics. The B side "Under The Veil" is a more esoteric affair that worms wistful slithers of melody around a detailed and precisely crackling beat, before a surprise bonus jam brings some downtempo unease to proceedings for a different shade of Melchner's production style.
