Review: Loaded: The Collection is a dynamic two disc compilation that encapsulates some of the most iconic alternative rock, pop, and dance tracks from the UK spanning the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. This striking collection is a journey through a pivotal era in British music. Disc 1 is packed with indie anthems, kicking off with Oasis's timeless 'Live Forever' and rolling into classics like Manic Street Preachers' 'A Design For Life' and The La's 'There She Goes.' Tracks like Supergrass's 'Alright' and Sleeper's 'Sale Of The Century' capture the vibrant energy of the Britpop scene. Disc 2 continues the journey with a mix of rock and dance. The Clash's 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go' and Iggy Pop's 'Lust For Life' provide a raw, rebellious edge, while The Stone Roses' 'Fools Gold' and Primal Scream's 'Rocks' delve into the dance rock fusion that defined the era. The set concludes on a high note with the infectious 'Tubthumping' by Chumbawamba. Overall, Loaded: The Collection is a carefully curated anthology that showcases the diversity and brilliance of UK music during these transformative decades.

Progressive House
Safe (8:23)
Safe (Joris Voorn remix) (6:42)
Review: A fresh new take on progressive house with melodic depth and emotional resonance. The original version is a mainfloor gem, combining uplifting melodies with a tech-infused rhythm that creates a reflective and mood-driven atmosphere. Its swaying progression and emotional undertones make it perfect for peak moments on the dancefloor. On the flip side, the remix transforms the original into a reserved anthem with an inspiring vocal message. It leans towards trance with its euphoric build-ups, yet the tempo aligns seamlessly with contemporary techno trends, making it both versatile and powerful. Emotion-soaked dancefloor energy.

Review: While compilations of 1980s pop music are ten-a-penny, most tend to focus on the most celebrated hits and biggest singles. Spectrum's latest, Pop Gems: The 80s, takes a different approach, combining familiar numbers (Dexy's 'Celtic Soul Brothers', Roxy Music's 'Same Old Scene' and the Human League's 'Human') with forgotten treats and less-celebrated cuts from big names of the era (Tears For Fears, Ah-Ha, Shakin' Stevens, Adam Ant, ABC, Duran Duran, Boy George, Five Star, Bros etc). There's also a sprinkling of crossover American dancefloor hits too, from the likes of Chaka Khan, Womack & Womack, Sheila E, Cameo and Jakki Graham). It packs in plenty of three discs, as you'd expect, and even finds space for a dash of Fairground Convention!

Review: Northern Soul is a scene which had many legendary hits, and DJs back in the day would often go to great lengths to protect the name of artists and tunes they played in order to keep a competitive edge over their peers. That gatekeeper is long gone, fortunately, so now anyone can enjoy the best the genre had to offer. This bumper double compilation has done plenty of the hard work for you by compiling 42 more of the finest Northern Soul tracks and they are all must-haves, frankly. The classics flow freely from legends like Stevie Wonder, Dusty Springfield, Freda Payne, Robert Knight, The Supremes, Major Lance and the unforgettable Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell duet, 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'. It's got all the energy, groove and soul you need to keep spinning all night long.
