There have been one or two references to a 2020 podcast interview with The Go! Team's Ian Parton recently, in which he admitted the band's initial success, which surrounded the landmark debut album, Thunder, Lightning, Strike, came too soon, or too quickly, or too heavily. Whatever the correct term, it's always interesting to hear artists commenting on the way the music industry (and in this case also the scene) can pull you up, spin you round, and spit you back out unless you hold on very tight indeed.

Thankfully the UK outfit did, because we're still getting new albums and this is the latest. As Pitchfork put it so aptly, the band are "still throwing block parties for a utopia where time and genre collapse" despite the fact "indie aesthetics have changed considerably in the past two decades." You should probably understand what this record sounds like from that.
