Sven Vath In The Mix: The Sound Of The 16th Season CD

Amazingly, Sven Vath's Cocoon label has been running parties in Ibiza since the turn of the millennium - a fact celebrated by The Sound Of The 16th Season, the latest in a long line of annual mix CDs from the German veteran. While it no doubt contains many tracks that got repeated airings on the White Isle last summer, it's more interesting as an indication of where Vath's head is, musically, right now. While previous installments were often minimal, deep and atmospheric, for the most part this edition is positive, celebratory and in-your-face. It contains all manner of quirky house and techno treats, including standout cuts from Metaboman, Kevin Saunderson (as remixed by Carl Craig), John Tejada, Tim Green, Deetron, Floorplan and The Knife.
