2. | "Black Acre" (feat Brolin - Chris Carter remix) |
After his successful rise on labels such as 2nd Drop and Hot Flush, South London Ordnance kicks off his own Aery Metals imprint with a bold 10" double pack that finds him expanding his sound whilst reaching out to respected peers to leave all possibilities for the future open. "Black Acre" is a tense, sparse cut with stripped, pincer like drums and haunting vocals from Brolin, while "Floating World" gets into a tougher, techno-tinged stomp decked out in metallic tones. It's not all completely bleak though, as "Obsidian" lets some colour creep into the mix and "System" veritably revels in cascades of bleeps over a chunky kick and clap combo. On the remix front, Factory Floor pull no punches with their hissing beast of a version of "Modular Splash", while JD Twitch takes the same track into a curious twirl of percussion and vocal triggering.
