While the title of Honne's latest album is reflective of the time at which it was recorded - during the various pandemic lockdowns of 2020, where fear and uncertainty weighed heavily on our collective mental health - the music contained within is amongst the most inventive and mood enhancing of the duo's career. Rooted in head-nodding R&B beats, colourful synth-pop and yearning blue-eyed soul, the album's 11 tracks are universally radio-friendly, full of sing-along potential and often contain subtle nods to a multitude of sonic styles old and new (laidback West Coast rock, golden era hip-hop, lo-fi blues and neo-soul included). Throw in impressive guest appearances from the likes of NIKI, Pink Sweat$ and Griff, and you have a hugely accessible, enjoyable and ear-pleasing affair that should only enhance their reputation.
