Although Peverelist was last spotted with Kowton on Hessle Audio where they delivered the blinding "Raw Code", this new solo outing is the first release for the Livity Sound imprint he runs with Kowton and Asusu in nearly a year. Once again taking on the truncated Pev moniker adopted for his recent Kowton collaboration, "Aztec Chant" continues the producer's recent forays into slower rhythmic terrain, combines the producer's unmistakably dubby breakbeats with an primitive, atonal melody. "Livity" meanwhile recalls his Hessle Audio classic "Dance Til The Police Come," sharing a similarly unhinged, ravey quality bolted together with ramshackle piano chords. TIP!
