Review: ** STL REPRESS ** Once again two flying something objects are located in the orbit, waiting for permission to land on your turntables and in the lay-by of your recordbag. This time with 13 pieces of STL deep shakin house madness, mindscratching lo-fi grooves, cranky energized synth activities, dope loops and sound effects. All pressed on a delicious double vinyl album with a limited printing of 500 covers! The music is all hardware based and sequenced. Recorded in live sessions without any computer arrangements. Surely the style is not for everyone and compared to others, probably seem to be a bit stubborn, unconform and sometimes just different. But it's always true spiritual. An open minded artform with the sense for functionality. Every track is talking to you in musical form without any barriers straight down to your feet and feeling. As in all something releases there is much sound personality and imagination inside, giving the listener a ticket to the fascinating world of beat orientated something music. Get on board and enjoy the trip.

Review: Theer is no-one quite like STL, the German beat maker who scuffs up his sounds, degrades his synths and makes groves so ramshackle it feels like they could fully collapse at any given time. Lost In Musik is his latest full length on his own Something vinyl series and is a 17 track ode to his signature sound. The rumbling drums inject real shady menace into any set, the intricate fusion of hosue and techno structures are primed to hypnotise and there are also seven playful loops included for the more adventurous DJs out there. Another classic.

Review: STL is a master of making knackered sound drum loops and lo-fi sounds then chucking them all into a blender and serving them up for deployment in backrooms around Europe's most heady clubs. He has been at it again it seems and now has a whole bunch of brilliantly dishevelled cuts for us on this new album U Know The Score on Something. It is packed with twitchy, urgent rhythms punctuated with occult sounds, smudgy melodies and shards of melody that all sound like they could collapse at any moment, but until they do, you will be locked in for the ride. Some are dark, some are light, all of them are brilliantly beguiling.
