Review: The 1993 MTV Unplugged performance by 10,000 Maniacs, now pressed on vinyl, serves as a stellar showcase of the band's artistry during their peak. Led by Natalie Merchant's expressive vocals, the album captures the band in a more intimate, acoustic setting, offering a fresh take on their most beloved tracks. The album opens with 'These Are Days,' where the blend of acoustic guitars and piano sets a warm, inviting tone. Merchant's voice shines throughout, especially on the hauntingly slowed-down rendition of 'Eat for Two,' which adds an eerie depth to the song. 'Because the Night,' while not as fiery as Patti Smith's original, still stands out as a compelling cover, with Merchant's softer approach giving it a unique spin. Tracks like 'Don't Talk,' 'Hey Jack Kerouac,' and 'What's the Matter Here?' benefit from the live arrangements, with additional musicians enriching the sound. The clear, polished production highlights the band's transition from their earlier, rougher sound to a more refined, accessible style. Overall, this album offers both longtime fans and newcomers a beautifully crafted collection, perfectly suited for the vinyl format.

Review: A-ha's 2016 compilation Time and Again: The Ultimate A-ha makes its debut on vinyl with a newly expanded tracklist of 21 songs, now encompassing material from all 11 original studio albums. The collection's first disc features their iconic hits like 'Take on Me' and 'The Living Daylights,' spanning their career from upbeat synth-pop beginnings to the more orchestral tones of later works such as 'Under the Makeup.' This compilation remains the most comprehensive overview of A-ha's career to date, now available in vinyl format that captures the breadth and evolution of their sound across the decades.

Review: Half a century old and still kicking raw ass like it's still 1972, Alice Cooper's School's Out gets a deluxe reissue treatment befitting of such an iconic album. On this whopping triple-vinyl edition, Rhino have had the original album remastered so it's sounding better than ever, but of course there's heaps of bonus material to enjoy as well. You get the single versions of 'School's Out' and 'Gutter Cat vs. The Jets', an alternate version of 'Alma Mater' and an early demo of 'Elected'. On top of all that is a recording of the band's concert in Miami in 1972, recorded just before they stepped into the studio to lay down the album.

Review: Alive Cooper's 1971 classic Killer was his fourth studio album during a truly unstoppable period for the Detroit rocker. He clocked up consecutive platinum-selling albums as well as five Top 40 hits such 'I'm Eighteen,' 'School's Out' and 'No More Mr. Nice Guy.' This reissue comes alongside a reissue of the 1972 album School's Out and has been newly remastered with the addition of rare recordings and previously unreleased live performances. This one topped out at #21 on the Billboard albums chart and featured hit singles such as 'Under My Wheels' and 'Be My Lover' as well as a prog-rock-inspired epic in the shape of 'Halo Of Flies.'

Review: You can't help wondering what Atlantic Records were thinking when they rejected Little Earthquakes. Tori Amos' debut album, which finally saw the light of day in 1992, reaching 14 in the UK long form charts at a time when competition in the Top anything was ridiculously fierce, the record stands up very well on its own, trapped in your own listening capsule. More so, it marked the arrival of a truly unique voice who would go on to inspire a bunch of alt-pop sirens.
Of course, the finished article garnered praise from across the critical board, proving that what label executives don't know is often what the rest of us do - originality has far more longevity than a guaranteed number one. Producing timeless singles like 'Silent All These Years', 'China', 'Winter', and, of course, 'Crucify', it's a joy to hear again.

Review: Angelo Badalamenti is to noir thrillers what Ennio Morricone is to the spaghetti Western scene. The Italo-American composer has been a pivotal part of the Hollywood soundtrack scene since the 70s and, among many cult-like figures, he's collaborated extensively with the great David Lynch on projects such as Blue Velvet and, of course, the present Twin Peaks, a film which has reached a God-like status over the last two decades. The music from the motion picture is as vivid and dream-like as the film itself; Badalalementi immerses you in a world of Neo-gothic trance and bizarre, fairy-like dances that instantly recall the movie's infamous dance scene concerning two horses. What is most notable about it is his use of subtle jazz nuances and the man's pioneering downtempo style. NB: this particular release, Fire Walk With Me, features additional music and acts as a companion to the official soundtrack as heard in the movie. What a soundtrack. Totally essential.

Review: As an ode to the upcoming remake of David Lynch's infamous Twin Peaks, there is a flurry of Angelo Badalamenti reissues at the moment. In fact, both this original soundtrack, which is the official music as heard in the 1992 film, and the Fire Walk With Me spin-off have both resurfaced as reissues this week. Unsurprisingly, we recommend for you to snap up both because they have been something of a rarity over the last 10 years. Timeless and iconic from start to finish, this soundtrack is not for the faint of heart, and will likely stir some feelings upon initial listen. This will be all the more palpable if you were shocked and eternally intrigued by the movie. We were, of course, and we absolutely cannot wait for the new series either!

Review: Originally released under the name The English Beat in 1982, this album sees the Two Tone experts spreading their wings and incoporating African vibes and jazz into their revolutionary sound. It's joyful, party-fuelling stuff but usually with a social message snuck in for good measure, which is just how we like it. Throw in some bonus studio and live tracks on this double deluxe RSD version and it really can't be Beat.

Review: Rhino recently acquired the worldwide rights to The Beat's catalogue, and is marking the beginning of this exciting partnership with the release of an expanded version of the influential ska group's 1980 debut, I Just Can't Stop It. A fixture of ska and two-tone in their day, The Beat laid down an infectious toe-tapper with I Just Can't Stop It, imbuing the natural compulsion to dance with the hidden materiality of class struggle; with deeply socially charged lyrics skirting over the jubilant instrumental likes of 'Best Friend', 'Mirror In The Bathroom' and 'Twist And Crawl', to contrasting but convincing effect. This acclaimed fixture of British ska comes reissued as a 2-LP set on magenta vinyl, following up the RSD crystal clear edition released earlier in 2023.

Review: George Benson's upcoming release, Dreams Do Come True: When George Benson Meets Robert Farnon, promises to be a brilliant journey into the past, rediscovering lost treasures from Benson's illustrious career. Collaborating with celebrated composer-arranger Robert Farnon in 1989, Benson delivers soulful renditions of American standards and reimagined pop classics with his signature style. The album, originally recorded during a prolific period but delayed and lost for 35 years, has now resurfaced from Benson's archive. With meticulous remastering and production by Grammy-award-winning pianist Randy Waldman, the album is brought back to life, showing Benson's fluid guitar work and emotive vocals. Dreams Do Come True adds another remarkable chapter to Benson's legacy as a jazz and contemporary music icon, following his groundbreaking success with albums like Breezin'. The wait will be well worth it for long time fans.

Review: An album that surely needs no introduction and does precisely what it says on the tin (like Ronseal), Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath is often considered (and rightly so) to be the first true heavy metal album, while the deeper nerds will also attest to the project birthing the doom metal genre as an entity thanks to guitarist Tony Iommi's signature menacingly psychedelic tone. Originally released in 1970, this self-titled debut boasts some of the band's most iconic cuts to date such as the looming title-track as well as 'The Wizard', 'Behind The Wall Of Sleep', and, 'N.I.B.', while the fact that they managed to also record and release their sophomore follow up Paranoid the very same year is anyone's guess (drugs).

Review: Captain Beefheart - AKA Don Glen Vliet - was apparently looking to right some of the wrongs that accompanied the release of his previous records with this 1972 outing. Although catapulted into the cult premier league with Trout Mask Replica three years earlier, and delivering three very good records between then and this, commercial success had continued to evade the arty blues master, something he went out to rectify here.
Failing to chart in the UK, and peaking at 191 in the Billboard 200 Albums Chart stateside, it's hard to make any big claims about him achieving that goal. Nevertheless, Clear Spot is a timeless slice of evidence in support of his legendary status, with the raw, grizzled sound we love him for defines everything here, not to mention incredible guitar riffs and genuinely innovative song craft (see the broken and surreal 'Golden Birdies' for one example.)

Review: Who can argue with them for wanting to repress this beauty? It's quite simply one of the best pop albums of all time. Tracy Chapman's voice is inimitable and she is, frankly, a genius. The timeless yet nostalgic 'Fast Car' is the unmistakable standout here - be teleported back to late-80s Britain (when it was a ubiquitous presence in public spaces) but know that if an emerging artist wrote that today it would still be a number one. Strictly speaking this is a 37th anniversary reissue - but who's counting? The label, with Chapman herself involved, have gone to meticulous steps to ensure it's an audiophile delight: Heavyweight vinyl and sourced from the analog master. The trusty Bernie Grundman, who is one of the best mastering engineers in the world, was the honoured hire in bringing this work of art back to life.

Review: This comprehensive special edition of this classic album comes across eight sides of vinyl and captures the iconic band at the peak of their early career. Performing in the nation's capital, Chicago delivered a wonderfully dynamic set that showcases their unique fusion of rock, jazz, and brass. It features plenty of great work from the band's well known and distinctive horn section and intricate arrangements. A magnificently captured live recording, it features hits from their early albums such as Chicago Transit Authority and Chicago II, and also takes in fan favourites like 'A Song For Richard & His Friends' and 'Beginnings.' The performance is a testament to Chicago's musical versatility and powerful live presence and this version of it takes you right back to the heart of it all.

Review: Chicago's third greatest hits album, originally released in 1989, is now available on sea blue vinyl. This collection spans from Chicago 16 to Chicago 19, featuring classics from both Peter Cetera and his successor Jason Scheff. Highlights include power ballads like 'Hard to Say I'm Sorry' and 'Hard Habit to Break' by Cetera, and 'If She Would Have Been Faithful' with Scheff on vocals. Chicago's resurgence in the early '80s and continued success with hits such as 'Will You Still Love Me?' and 'Look Away' show the band's enduring appeal. With over 38 million units sold in the U.S. and numerous gold and platinum albums, Chicago remains one of rock's most successful groups. This compilation alone features 6 top 10 hits alone!

Fans can now experience the electric performances on this beautifully packaged 6xLP to transport listeners back to the unforgettable event. This release is not just a live recording, but a celebration of guitar music's past, present, and future.

Review: To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Phil Collins' fifth solo studio album, Both Sides, a special edition 5XLP box set is set for release. Both Sides (All The Sides) includes early demo tracks, rarities from singles like 'Both Sides of the Story,' 'Everyday,' and 'We Wait and We Wonder,' as well as live performances such as 'Can't Turn Back the Years' and 'Both Sides of the Story' from Collins' MTV Unplugged session. Review: The Sound Of Music had a long-lasting impact, and one of its cornerstones was 'My Favourite Things', later covered by trumpeter-visionary John Coltrane. Coltrane's version - the lead track from the album of the same name - helped cement the song's cultural standing, topping the charts in several countries. Three other tracks appear on the album in mono; Cole Porter's 'Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye', and two standards from the Gershwin twins on the B side. This new reissue by Rhino, however, has both stereo and mono, along with new liner notes: we're blown away by this light-hearted trumpet masterpiece.

Review: American guitar legend Ry Cooder's 1985 score remains a defining example of minimalist film music, built almost entirely around sparse motifs and slide guitar. Recorded for Wim Wenders' feature set in the American Southwest, the ten-track sequence avoids orchestration entirely, opting instead for open-ended cues that feel improvised but never unfocused. 'Paris, Texas' opens with the recognisable main theme i a slow, resonant guitar line set against silence. 'Brothers' and 'Nothing Out There' follow similar patterns, with minor variations in phrasing and tempo. The inclusion of 'Cancion Mixteca', sung by Harry Dean Stanton, adds one of the only vocal moments on the set, grounded in traditional folk. The remainder of the tracks i including 'No Safety Zone', 'Houston In Two Seconds' and 'Dark Was The Night' i continue the pared-back approach, prioritising tone and atmosphere over melody. Some 40 years since its original release, the material hasn't dated i not because it sounds modern, but because it was never trying to. It remains quietly influential, especially in the way it reframed narrative scoring through reduction.

Review: Since the release of Deja Vu in 1970, the music scene had evolved, but audiences still craved the harmony-driven idealism that catapulted Crosby, Stills & Nash to fame. CSN, the band's third album, reached number two on the charts, just behind Fleetwood Mac's Rumours. The album shows a mature lyrical depth and intricate compositions. Graham Nash's 'Just a Song Before I Go' became a hit single, epitomising his knack for radio-friendly acoustic tunes. Stephen Stills' 'See the Changes' and 'Dark Star' stand tall among his best, while David Crosby's contributions - 'Shadow Captain,' 'Anything at All,' and the poignant 'In My Dreams' - highlight his unique voice. Nash's multi-part epic 'Cathedral,' inspired by an acid trip in Winchester Cathedral, became a live staple. CSN is the last album where the trio's harmonies shine without additional voices, making it a timeless gem, blending country, pop, and rock seamlessly. Despite not reaching the innovative peaks of their first two albums, CSN remains a beloved album in their vault.

Review: The 2024 release of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Live At Fillmore East, 1969 captures the iconic band's electricifying energy during their fourth show in two days at the Fillmore East. Rhino's 2xLP set is a newly discovered multi-track recording of the September 20, 1969, concert, featuring both acoustic and electric performances. The setlist includes early versions of future classics from the Deja Vu and Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere albums such as 'Suite: Judy Blue Eyes' and 'Down By The River'. Highlights include Stephen Stills' stirring solo performance of '4 + 20' and Graham Nash's heartfelt rendition of 'Our House', dedicated to Joni Mitchell, while Neil Young also revisits his Buffalo Springfield roots with 'I've Loved Her So Long'. The electric set intensifies with expansive versions of 'Wooden Ships' and 'Sea Of Madness'. The show closes with 'Find The Cost Of Freedom', offering a powerful finale. The audio, mixed by Stills and Young, boasts impeccable quality, with AAA lacquer-cut vinyl ensuring superior fidelity. This release is a treasure for CSNY fans, capturing a pivotal moment in the band's history.

Review: Five decades on and Devo are rightly recognised as a cultural treasure from the early days of US new wave, but even by the time they released their Brian Eno-produced debut album in 1978 they were five years in and way ahead of the curve. As the band reflect on half a century at the cutting edge, Rhino have pulled together an expansive retrospective which comes in many different iterations. This particular edition, pressed on red and blue double vinyl, gathers together 25 classic and lesser known cuts from the band's considerable archives, housed with stunning artwork in a gatefold sleeve and is sure to become a collectors' item.

Review: No one has ever been able to tell Kevin Rowland what to do, and many might have tried to talk him out of doing an album largely comprised of traditional Irish songs, not to mention backing up this decision by giving the title an up-yours title like this one. Yet they'd all have been wrong, as this triumphant work proves. After all, few but Rowland would have to chutzpah reinvent Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides Now' in the country soul idiom on the tin with quite such heartwarming results on the same album as the 18th century Irish song 'Carrickfergus', only two highlights on a brass-balled collection that serves as testimony to one of music's most enduring mavericks.

Review: Multi-genre acrobats and 70s American rockers The Doobie Brothers are back with more silky smooth signature harmonies from their home base in California with Walk This Road, a ten-tracker that unites core members Patrick Simmons, Tom Johnston, John McFee and Michael McDonald. It was produced by John Shanks and does a fine job of working each member's unique songwriting style into a cohesive collection. Themes of recovery, reflection and spiritual awakening run throughout, with Simmons describing it as "waking up to see the important things you've been missing." The title track has the legendary Mavis Staples and stands out as a fine soulful anthem of unity and hope that will resonate in any era.

Review: It's hard to believe there was a time when a band as culturally important as The Doors were still trying to make it, but even after their debut album came out in January 1967 there was a brief patch where they were still little known outside their stomping ground in LA. A couple of months later, they held a three-night stint at The Matrix in San Francisco playing to threadbare crowds, but luckily the sound engineer had the foresight to properly mic up and capture all of the performances and the recordings have since become a massive part of the band's legacy. As well as the classic tracks from the first album, and a few of their later hits, there are a generous dose of covers and obscurities which get a first-time airing thanks to this new expanded and authoritative five-LP edition, with the generous inclusion of an extra 7" with a hidden gem that will blow the minds of lifelong ardent fans, of which there are more than a few.

The first live album to be released following the band's explosion in popularity after their incendiary song 'The End' was lucky enough to be featured in the timeless Ford-Coppola movie Apocalypse Now, Elektra Records were more than compelled to pursue the release of more Doors material; this one homes in on various concerts between 1968-70, spanning shows performed in New York, Boston, Detroit, LA and Copenhagen. This 40th anniversary reissue is on emerald vinyl and features 'Light My Fire (including Graveyard Poem)', 'Moonlight Drive', and 'Love Me Two Times', among other Doors hits and favourites.

Review: Dr. Feelgood's 1976 live set is a bulletproof document of their raucous peak. Captured across shows in Sheffield and Southend, Stupidity strips rock'n'roll back to its nerve endings: no frills, no flash-just Lee Brilleaux's feral bark and Wilko Johnson's razor-slash guitar. Their sound is lean, sweaty and impatient, particularly on standouts like 'She Does It Right', 'All Through The City' and a blistering take on Chuck Berry's 'Talking About You'. The mood is urgent, but never messy-Brilleaux controls the chaos like a bandleader possessed. Aided by engineer Vic Maile, the recording hits with barked authority, buzzing with pub sweat and amplifier hiss. Topping the UK chart on release, it marked a rare feat: a no-nonsense live album going straight to number one without a hit single. As a snapshot of Feelgood's primal power, it remains a punch in the ribs nearly fifty years on.

Review: The definitive greatest hits compilation by British new wave rulebook rippers Duran Duran, originally released in 1998. Spanning their career from the early 1980s through the mid-1990s, the record saw hailings and bowed prayer prostrations the world over for its sleek representation of the band's rise and suspension over 80s dance rock airspace for decades and more. 'Hungry Like The Wolf', 'Rio', 'Ordinary World', 'A View To A Kill' and 'Girls On Film' serve here as retrospective freeze-frames, together stop-motioning the band's trajectory through synthpop glamours and evolution into a maturer stadium act, as the revolutionary 90s crept onwards.

Review: Echo & The Bunnymen's first ever best-of compilation, first released in 1985, gets a reissue. Accruing all the hits, we begin with the seminal 'Rescue' before careening through 'Never Stop', 'The Killing Moon' and 'Seven Seas', recalling the new wave band's emotive drawl and gushing instrumentals, coinciding with the time in which their contemporaneous album, 'Songs To Learn and Sing', was released.

Review: Rhino have embarked on a grand reissue mission and plan to put out all of the Echo & The Bunnymen's first four albums. Here we have a remastered version of Ocean Rain on 180-gram black vinyl. It was the fourth of the band's albums and was related back in 1984. It reached number four on the UK Albums Chart thanks to singles like 'Silver', 'Seven Seas' and personal favourite 'The Killing Moon.' The album got the band back to the top of their game after the rather less than warm reception to previous album Porcupine the year before thanks to its new found romantic sweetness and the band's bittersweet melodies.

Review: Following on from the release of their Funky Divas album, which was a true favourite of the 1990s, back in April, seminal girl group En Vogue now have their best bits assembled on Now Playing, a new album via Rhino. The group was the brainchild of Oakland-based songwriter-producer duo Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy and was noted for having all four members taking turns to be the lead singers. Their lush harmonies resonate to this day and these original recordings remind of their chart-topping, MTV-ruling glory. They are a magical bend of seductive, soulful vocals with funky beats and plenty of attitude. All hail En Vogue!

Review: Faith Evans released her Keep The Faith album, one of the three platinum-certified records she put out between 1995 and 2001, just 12 months after losing her then-husband Notorious BIG. It arrived on Bad Boy Records and was almost entirely written and produced by Evans herself. It was a highlight of the 90s soul-pop era with top ten singles including 'All Night Long' and 'Love Like This.' Evans brought plenty of raw pain to her vocal deliveries even though on the surface the commercial r&b tunes are easy to access. It's a heartfelt homage to her late husband that is just as touching today.

Review: Prepare to be wowed by this reissue of a classic Roberta Flack album. It is one that is now 50+ years old so comes on special clear vinyl. It topped the charts in 1972, some three years after it was actually released in 1969. Of course, it is best known for the tune 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' which was in Clint Eastwood's movie 'Play Misty for Me'. It went on to stay at number one for six weeks and then won the Grammyr Award for Record of the Year in 1973. Allegedly the record only took 10 hours to complete in its entirety, and what a record it is.

Review: The Flaming Lips' 2002 album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is being reissued as 6CD and 5LP 20th anniversary box sets - with both featuring demos, B-sides, radio sessions and more. Containing a godlike 100 or so tracks on it, it includes lost rarities like 'Psychedelic Hypnotist Daydream (Demo)' and 'The Deterioration Of The Fight Or Flight Response" (B-side Fight Test UK CD 1)' and Flaming Lips fans surely have their work cut out for them. A must for all obsessive collectors of the UK psychers' work, hoping to salvage their most obscure sonic trips - the ones that never came back.

Review: If Rumours, the eleventh studio album by British-American legends Fleetwood Mac, is heralded among the greatest records of the 1970s, or indeed the 20th Century, then any attempt to rethink its contents needs to be good. Luckily, we're talking about arguably the most accomplished shape-shifters music has ever seen, starting life as a U.K. blues duo and morphing - at times a little jarringly - through various lineups and eventually into hugely influential and commercially successful American pop-rock act.

Suffice to say the troupe manage to pull some excellent alternative versions out of the bag here, then. Granted, they might struggle to stick like the originals of 'Gold Dust Woman' or 'The Chain', but that's an unfair comparison. Those tracks have long-since cemented a place in pop culture. The variations here are quality through and through in their own right, though, which is nothing short of a triumph when you're dealing with untouchable material.

Review: Spanning two distinct periods in the Mac's history, Rhino present a captivating, inspiring and enthralling collection of top quality psychedelic, blues, pop, folk rock and more, beginning with some of the iconic band's lesser celebrated early work from the period in which Christine Perfect, AKA Christine McVie, was still a session musician rather than full-time member. We wind up in a very different era, in terms of the group and the world. One that's more mainstream, in some ways softer and certainly more sellable in the charts. Nevertheless, the quality didn't drop one iota, and this snapshot of the outfit's first half decade or so is a testament to just how imaginative and genuinely groundbreaking they were across hit singles like 'Oh Well', and more obscure B-sides alike.

Review: Rhino Records delivers a vibrant reissue of Fleetwood Mac's daring double-album, Tusk (1979), now available exclusively on 180g Transparent Light Green 2LP vinyl. This genre-defying masterpiece exemplifies the band's willingness to explore new territories. Lindsey Buckingham's intricate arrangements and diverse influences infuse the album with elements of pop, rock, new wave, and disco. Stevie Nicks shines with powerful vocals on standout tracks like the emotive ballad 'Sara' and the anthemic title track. While initially compared to the monumental success of Rumours, Tusk has since garnered a dedicated following for its boldness and artistic depth. Achieving Platinum certification and topping the UK charts, this reissue celebrates the album's enduring legacy and cements its status as a cult classic.

This version still has a great balance of lesser known tracks with classics like 'The Chain,' and the haunting 'Gold Dust Woman.' The second disk breaks even more classics with 'Hold Me, and 'Songbird'. While there has been the reunion tour releases in the 2000s, there hasn't been a release that promotes their tours of the day like this release has.

Review: In the late 1960s, Fleetwood Mac was formed by Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, John McVie and Jeremy Spencer and they went on to become one of the most legendary acts in rock. The Best of Fleetwood Mac (1969-1974) compiles highlights from their early years with Reprise Records and features tracks from seven albums-Then Play On (1969), Kiln House (1970), Future Games (1971), Bare Trees (1972), Penguin (1973), Mystery to Me (1973), and Heroes Are Hard to Find (1974. This collection includes hits like 'Oh Well - Pt. 1' and 'The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)' and so reflects the band's evolving lineup and showcases contributions from nearly every member of the era with extra info from James McNair's liner notes.

Review: Foreigner's upcoming compilation, Turning Back the Time, is a nostalgic journey through the band's illustrious career, featuring 18 tracks that span their greatest hits and an exciting new addition. The compilation, timed to coincide with the band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, includes classics like 'Feels Like the First Time', 'Cold As Ice' and 'Juke Box Hero,' showing the band's signature blend of rock and melodic strength. The jam packed collection also features a special surprise with the previously unreleased track 'Turning Back the Time'. This fresh cut, co-written by Mick Jones and Marti Frederiksen, is a reflective ode that looks back on the journey of growing up and the impact of music. With a vibrant melody and heartfelt lyrics, it resonates deeply, especially in light of Jones' recent health challenges. Also featured are timeless hits like 'Hot Blooded' and 'I Want to Know What Love Is', alongside lesser-known gems like 'Girl on the Moon'. Overall, a worthy collection that can be otherwise called a greatest hits album.

Review: Some of the finest soul albums of all time are not studio sets, but rather live recordings that capture the energy of the greats at the peak of their powers. Aretha Franklin's Oh My Oh My: Aretha Live in Philly 1972 is one such example. Backed by a band of hugely talented musicians, the two-hour concert recording sees the undisputed Queen of Soul deliver spine-tingling recordings of stone-cold classics ('Rocksteady', 'Respect', 'Oh Me Oh My', 'Spanish Harlem' and so on) interspersed with some genuinely brilliant cover versions. The album was first released on CD way back in 2007, but this marks its' belated and much deserved release on vinyl. In a word: essential.

In the film itself, it was the movie's main stars Irene Cara and Lonette McKee who mostly sang the tunes but this recording features the Queen of Soul Aretha singing them at Curtis's Curtom studio in Chicago. He composed and produced all the tunes and here they are pressed onto sealer vinyl for the first time since they were first released. It's a feel good selection whether or not you have seen the film.

Review: Genesis' 1974 release stands as a cornerstone of progressive rock, blending evocative storytelling with layered, intricate arrangements. Peter Gabriel's vocals on what would be his final album with the giants bring the narrative to life, shifting from the reflective tones of 'The Carpet Crawlers' to the defiant energy of 'Back in N.Y.C.'. The instrumentation is equally vividiTony Banks' keyboards set an atmospheric tone, while Phil Collins' dynamic drumming anchors the complex shifts in rhythm and mood. The interplay between Steve Hackett's guitar and Mike Rutherford's bass adds depth to the sprawling soundscapes, delivering a record that still resonates with its bold ambition and emotional scope.
