Review: It's hard not to feel a sense of empathy after about a minute of Alice Boman's intimate and heartfelt debut, "Dream On". "Wish We Had More Time", the sombre and wistful opening track, marks this out as the kind of album that tells us all the heartache, and tears of the last decade are likely to be just as pronounced in this one. Glittering keys atop plodding melody reminding listeners that there's still beauty in and among the pain. Following with the choral "Heart On Fire" you may think the mood has switched to a more positive outlook. With lines like "I wish we'd never met" front and centre. Which is where the genius here becomes apparent. Love songs in the most honest sense - disempowering, terrifying, desperate, uncertain and, ultimately, devastating when threads unravel. Backed with scores that suck you in like lullabies, their depth difficult to countenance, you've got yourself something special.
