Believer (8:53)
Inner Engineering (10:35)
Winged Sun (5:47)
Ultravision (Eclipse mix) (8:26)
Lux (with Bliss Inc) (10:04)
Review: NTS listeners and electro lovers will be well-tuned into the work of Gabriola who has hosted the Magiwire show there for a full decade now. It's an exploration of all forms of electro as is this new EP, Believer. Things kick off in electric fashion with the progressive melodies and warped pads of 'Believer' before 'Inner Engineering' gets busy on zippy melodies with turbulent bass spraying about the mix. 'Winged Sun' slows things down to a precise and percolating rhythm that is run through with wires lead and alien lifeforms while 'Ultravision' is a more jacked up and visceral cut and Bliss Inc Present Equator steps up to collaborate on 'Lux' to close things down in style.

UK Garage
Delirium Tremens
Delirium Tremens (Nathan Fake remix)
Review: After last year's 10" for Lone's Magic Wire, Neon Jung returns with another slab of bass-toting badness for the ballsier side of the dance. "Delerium Tremens" takes the principles of early breakbeat and matches it to some menacing bass stabs, starry-eyed synths and sublime soul hooks. It's nailed perfectly for a floor-smashing winner, and paves the way perfectly for Nathan Fake to freak everything out on the remix. The beat is a surprisingly focused garage swinger for experimentally minded Mr. Fake, but the synths more than make up for that as they swirl around in a maelstrom of detuned magnificence.

Animal Eclipse
Cat: MAGICRS 002. Rel: 11 Feb 16

Bass
Animal Eclipse (2:29)
Janus (4:26)
Golden Inferno (2:30)
N4 (5:16)
Pyxis (2:38)
White Eclipse (2:52)
Review: Lone's Magical Wire label has been at the forefront of our list of besties since the debut release last year, and this new EP by Lance Neptune is nothing short of spectacular, an aptly sublime piece of electronic dance music with a cinematic edge. The opener and title track "Animal Eclipse" is a stellar soundscape that creates the perfect mood film, and it falls neatly into the airy, wide-eyed house beats of "Janus", and the more broken, more downtempo "Golden Inferno". "N4" and the rest of the tunes are cater ever so well to our current house tastes, and this EP sits ever so well into the output of label's such as Mood Hut, Going Good, and the rest of the new age house connection.

Priorities
Cat: MAGICRS 007. Rel: 06 Jun 16

Deep House
Evening Call (5:25)
Warm Priority (5:44)
Lalime (Dandana mix) (5:38)
About To Leave (2:55)
Review: Lone has always been a sucker for all that's melodious, sparkling and loved-up, so it's little surprise to see him putting on an EP from Montreal house head Project Pablo. According to Lone, Priorities was inspired by, "the depths of adult contemporary and the moods and attitudes of Beaubien Ouest" (which, for the uninitiated, is a neighbourhood in Montreal). While this may be true, for the most part it sounds like any other Project Pablo record, which is no bad thing. Standout "Warm Priorities" - all Jack J bass, jazzy keys, life-enriching chords and lo-fi drum machine rhythms - is particularly potent, but there's barely a duffer in sight.

The Outsiders EP (double 12")
Cat: MAGICRS 012. Rel: 21 Dec 18

Deep House
Crimson (7:27)
D1RT BOX (4:34)
Romeo, Romeo (7:51)
Would You Still Be Here (7:22)
Suzinak (6:33)
The Outsiders (10:08)
Review: The seemingly unstoppable rise of Ross From Friends (the producer, rather than actor David Schwimmer) continues via the South London beat-maker's most expansive release to date: a 12" double-pack stuffed full of goodness. As usual, you can expect plenty of samples that sound like they've been taken from malfunctioning reel to reel tape machines, ear-pleasing synthesizer melodies, wayward drum machine hits and squeezable basslines of the sort that once marked out '80s electrofunk bangers. Most of the tracks are in a lo-fi deep house vein (you'll be unsurprised to hear), though there are one or two skewed downtempo diversions that rank amongst the producer's most intriguing tracks to date.

Over Falls (5:23)
Bridgework (7:15)
Silver II (5:39)
Fly By Night (7:38)
Review: Lone's great Magic Wire is back with Canadian producer Bruce Trail. The EP is named after a picturesque Southern Ontario hiking route. Starting out with the dusty retro house of "Over Falls", he then gets stuck into the spacey and ethereal deepness of "Bridgework" which we really enjoyed for all its emotive qualities. On the flip we have the early Mr Fingers sounding "Silver II" which is rather convincing in all its early nineties-ness and closing this great EP out is the rather upbeat hiss and boom of "Fly By Night".
