Review: LRK Records has put together a special limited edition 45rpm by Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers. Due to high demand, the popular 'Soul Clap' (Radio Edit) from their album is now available on vinyl and this energetic version condenses the original into a dance floor-ready anthem with funky Bohannon rhythms and James Brown-inspired grooves which has already received extensive airplay. Additionally, the festive track 'Always Christmas Eve' comes on the A-side of this special grey coloured vinyl.

Review: LA soul-funkers Bella Brown and The Jealous Lovers came to the city of Angels after relocating from their origin, Chicago. Making the most of the 1970s soul boom, choice soul tracks like 'What Will You Leave Behind' left an enduring mark on not just the city, but the international scene for decades to come. Now LRK Records boss Lenny Randle reissues the single on his very own label - with Randle also having played guitar on the single, It's a feisty but tender song, flaunting Brown's lilting vocals and the band's tight groove.

Review: Brooklyn-born artist Johnny Burgos wore multiple hats as a singer, songwriter, producer, and engineer. His retro-soul style echoes a raw, uncompromising sound and delves into themes of beauty amid pain and hope amidst despair. Drawing inspiration from icons like Michael Jackson, OutKast, and Lauryn Hill, his music seamlessly blends r&b with hip-hop, funk, pop, salsa, and reggae. With the opener here 'Hit Me Like', he goes slow and sentimental with louche drums and tender chords under the heartbroken vocals. 'Get Back' is just as melancholic and beautiful with heavy kicks and vulnerable vocals.

Review: 'Intuition' and 'Get It Right,' tracks from Claire Davis's album Get It Right, shine with soulful resonance and introspective lyricism. Review: LRK Records reissue a highly anticipated cut from Claire Davis, in a rare example of a reissue of a contemporary soul number. First released on the label in 2022, this charming green-and-eggshell 7" originally served as the label's 12th release, and housed the single that went on to inform the title of Davis' debut solo album in July 2021. 'Thrive' and 'Playground' defined well the chirpy but forborne edge of Davis' sound, marked by heart-warm productions and quantized, but still live beats. The line "I've got lots of flames to feed" is a highlight, suggesting that Davis' many passionate encumbrances and relationship tumults, despite the slog, are worth her while, and help her thrive.

Review: 90s RnB devotees will be thrilled to learn that Raja-Nee is back in the studio. Her 1994 album Hot & Ready is a stone cold Jam & Lewis classic, but of course she's not just retreading old ground as she comes back into the fold on this single for LRK. Ahead of her new album The Sovereign of 14742, the Chicago soul veteran delivers this smooth-as-silk single featuring ThaSaint and Wilfred Frelix. As well as the mellow mood of the original version, there's also a stripped down remix from The Packxsz on the B side, which brings the flute out of the mix and makes a feature of it alongside Raja-Nee's stunning vocals.
