Disco Beat Down EP
Cat: FFP 016. Rel: 09 Jan 23

Disco/Nu-Disco
Disco (6:48)
Beat Down (6:05)
Review: Some high-grade re-edit action here, as dusty-fingered Chicagoan crate diggers Sadar Bahar and Marc Davis join forces with pal (and credited mixer) Rahaan on two fine tweaks of suitably obscure tracks. A-side 'Disco' is a groovy, funky, horn-heavy affair; a sumptuously string-laden, orchestrated blend of righteous gospel-soul, Philadelphia International style proto-disco and grooves reminiscent of those frequently employed on Steely Dan's most up-beat moments. 'Beat Down' meanwhile is a jaunty, percussive and sun-soaked slab of dancefloor-ready Latin jazz that speeds up as it goes along. The jazz dancers will love it!

International Disco Mafia EP
Cat: FFP 013. Rel: 04 Feb 19

Disco/Nu-Disco
Crown Prince Of Waterford - "Getting Fingered On The Waltzers" (13:19)
Island Times - "Together" (5:47)
Umberto Lumber - "Between Those Sheets" (4:54)
Review: Chubby Irish groove hounds Fatty Fatty return with another sublime funk-stacked V/A three tracker. Local lad Crown Prince Of Waterford (not to be confused with the legendary blues singer) lays down a furiously funky jam about having fun at the fairground while fellow Emerald Isle strutter Island Times returns Fatty Fatty with a loose-limbed falsetto-loaded twanger. Finally, we fly off into the Italian sunset with a stunning slow jam from Umberto Lumber. A twinkling slo-mo chugger with serious cosmic tendencies, what a way to finish an EP.

Let The Sunshine In

Disco/Nu-Disco
Let The Sunshine In (edit By Mr K)
1, 2, 3 (Mr K Extension Of Walter Gibbos Melting Pot Acetate)
Review: Ready for summer festivals, outdoor dances and sun-soaked boat parties, disco’s longest serving re-editor Danny Krivit brings his “Mr K Edits” project to Fatty Fatty Phonographics for the very first time. Saluting the sun, he drops a fine, extended edit of suitably big gospel soul/disco number ‘Let The Sunshine In’, cannily building towards a grandiose, life-affirming conclusion full of righteous group vocals and impassioned male lead vocals. On the flip, Krivit reworks an obscurity from Walter Gibbons’ private collection of one-off acetates. Originally pressed to a seven-inch, Krivit’s version extends the extra-percussive, jazzy, infectious and celebratory disco obscurity for added dancefloor pleasure. Like the majority of Krivit’s edits, it’s a masterclass in club-focused rearrangement.
