Number Two
Cat: EVA 017. Rel: 16 Jun 06

Minimal/Tech House
Number Two
In A Flash
Acid Daze
Review: Alan Barratt climbs on board with Evasive and brings with him new production partner, Yann Solo. (Not to be confused with the intergalactic space smuggler with a similar name.) Highly acclaimed DJ and producer Alan Barratt is no stranger to creating top notch productions and some of the quality labels he has already released with include End Recordings, Red Ant, Plastic City, Eukatech and Royal Drums. Alan is well known for his work with Tony Thomas as "The Producers", however his studio sparring partner on this 3-track foray for Evasive is the Parisian born and bred Yann Solo who has been DJing at some of the top clubs and underground parties in Paris whilst also honing his production skills for the past few years. Yann is definitely a name to watch out for, with material also lined up for future release on both Mastiksoul's 4Kenzo label, and DJ Linus's Exun imprint. Alan & Yann team up to deliver three firing cuts "Number Two", "In A Flash" and "Acid Daze". All 3 tracks are slick productions already receiving heavy rotation with club and airplay from all the top boys and girls.

Mistaken Identity (reissue)
Cat: EVA 007R. Rel: 23 Jun 22

Minimal/Tech House
Mistaken Identity (7:05)
Pursuit Of Bliss (7:35)
Restless (6:52)
Review: Rob Pearson and Kate Smith are The Inhabitants and 20 years ago this year they put out this still-fresh EP, which, remarkably, was also their debut. It is a perfect fusion of UK tech and Detroit techno that oozes machine warmth and silky synth work for those heady floors. The rickety tech-funk of 'Mistaken Identity' opens up with glitchy drums and reverberating toms, 'Pursuit Of Bliss' has a different kind of squelchy bass funk with futuristic pad work and 'Restless' is a heads down and late night driver. The pair are in the club working in new music so this reissue is a timely one to reintroduce us to their vital sound.

Look Into Your Eyes (reissue)
Cat: EVA 001R. Rel: 09 Nov 22

Minimal/Tech House
Look Into Your Eyes (6:49)
Chica (7:33)
Twilight Manoeuvres (5:58)
Review: Lee Humphreys and Evasive label head Rob Pearson are Lovable Rogues, a tech house pair with roots in the golden era of that sound which had its home in South London. It was this three track EP back in 1999 that launched their label and 23 years later there is still plenty of clamour for it. 'Look Into Your Eyes' kicks off with thumping kicks and crispy hi hats, 'Chica' is more playful with freaky synth sounds and a hurried rhythm that helps elevate your rush while 'Twilight Manoeuvres' closes down with spaced out cosmic tech vibes and plenty of mind-melting motifs. Classic tackle.
