Review: Sunkissed acid bubblers abound from the latest release from British duo Coyote, most commonly found cruising in an Ibizan reverie on the Is It Balearic? imprint. After serving up a remix for the Japanese label, the pair return to Ene for a full release that brings to light the soul-stirring piano stabs and laconic grooves of "The Journey". In its original form the track floats in a gently old-skool lilt, while the "Acid Dub" adds some guts to the track with perfectly nasty 303 squelch getting slimy all over those well-chiselled chords. CHIDA turns in a remix that injects some dub techno weight into the tune, coming as something of a shock after the gentile ways of the other two versions but no less welcome.

Review: What's this? Foolish Felix and Nick The Record on one 12" with added vibes from Kaidi Tatham? Ene Records know how to spoil us! Both Felix and Nick have well deserved reputations amongst the digging fraternity, but their productions skills really shine here. Lead track "Unbreakable" is wedged between cosmic disco and the deepest of deep house and is breezy, spacious and filled with all manner of star gazing intent, thanks in no small part to the key playing skills of Bugz brethren Kaidi Taitham. There's a nice change in vibe on the flip, as "First Fruit" comes across like Theo Parrish doing West London broken beat with a Detroit Beat down flavour - wait for that bass squelch to come squeezing out.

Review: Jamie Blanco and Chris Stoker recently debuted their Ess O Ess project with an impressive single on Love on the Rocks. "Baboon" was particularly potent, offering a decidedly Balearic fusion of low-slung, Italo-influenced rhythms, punk-funk bass and jangly, bluegrass-infleunced guitars. Here they deliver a speedy follow-up for Japan's impressive Ene imprint. "Re-enter" is a decidedly tougher prospect, with relentless, Italo-style arpeggios and Detroit techno style chords riding a wave of locked-in, jackin' percussion. Man Power remixes, turning the original into a sprawling chunk of late night Balearica complete with tactile melodies and a faintly foreboding groove.

Review: Italo all-stars old (Beppe Loda) and new (Mushrooms Project) collide for a highly limited cosmic assault. "Mondo Virtuale" is a chugging analogue steam train that builds on every bar with subtle elements. Wholly immersive, muscular and complex, it's more Nordic in its make up than Italo but boy does it hypnotise. Loda's own "Tesoro" is a much more cinematic composition, full of well measured euphoria. Finally the Discossession remix takes "Tesoro" and gives it a more forthright cosmic funk feel. Cue rocket powered wah wahs, synthetic steel drum sounds and one exceedingly happy dancefloor...

Review: Ace Scottish producer Lord Of The Isles continues to impress all, arising on the Ene Tokyo imprint with an EP of sumptuous proportions which includes an added bonus in the shape of a COS/MES remix. A brief opener in the shape of "Rising Sun" sets the tone, before the glorious "To & Fro" captivates, slowly unfurling into a richly detailed, beatdown bump through swirling analogue lines that give the expansive track a sort of subaqueous boogie sensation. After the acoustic fuzz of "Your Smile", COS/MES step up to remix "To & Fro", expanding the proceedings to over twelve minutes with an epic and very odd remix that pumps with eccentric industrial intent yet still retains the duo's trademark melodic glisten. Another release that proves Lord Of The Isles is beyond simple categorization.

Review: Pristine Portuguese Balearica... Rui lays down a sumptuous bed of shimmering bliss where the groove laps like a calm sea and crisp guitars twang a soothing tale. Remix-wise Vahagn complements every aspect of the original in his interpretation, adding more beef but not losing any aspects of the simple-but-super-sweet intention while Tiago ups the tempo with psychedelic results... At points during the build up the guitar loops and SFX don't sound far off the Chemical Brothers before we drop into the most infectious percussive groove of the EP. Stunning. Adios "Amigos!"
