Akai. Part of the inMusic family since 2012, Akai is the pro audio arm of a brand founded in Japan way back in 1946.
Akai have produced everything from synths to hi-fi over the decades, but in recent years the brand has focussed heavily on controllers, producing a range of MIDI keyboards, pad controllers and performance hardware designed to simplify studio production and live shows. The range includes DAW-specific models such as the Fire, which is designed to integrate seamlessly with FL Studio, and the APC40 MKII, designed for Ableton Live.
All of this sits neatly alongside the MPC range, an iconic sampler/sequencer/workstation series that’s been in production since the 1980s.
