Review: Ruff Cuts! Strictly 10" styles! For the uninitiated, Ruff Cut was launched by Osiris Music back in 2013 as an intermittent platform for their roster to explore styles and sounds away from the main flex associated with Kryptic Mind's label. Tremble has become a key Ruff Cut artist, despite the lack of information out there, with this Far Wud 10" the third release on the label credited to the producer. Once again, Tremble delivers two cuts of dubwise stepper science with the spacious vibe of the title track just shading it for us. Dare we say it is Tremble's best work to date? Sure, let's run with that!
Review: Compa hails from Manchester, but his productions and his sound are quite deeply imbedded into London's rich dubstep dynasty. The young bass wizard is back on Mala's Deep Medi Muzik, starting off with the murky stepper riddim called "Truth In Sound", a wreckage of beats and sonics that is dissolved by the mutant waves of "Noctule". "Tibetan Chant" is more of a tribal dance ritual to the Gods, and "Four Four Claps" turns things nastier and away from the deeper waters that we're used to hearing Compa sail on.
Review: It's here, the man behind that track "Harlem Shake", now throws us a full length on Glasgow based imprint LuckyMe, but he's matured a lot since that infamous track. The trap poster boy explores a varied selection of beats and feats on Aa, we particularly enjoyed the collaborations on here such as the full frontal assault of "Day Ones" feat Novelist and Leikeli47, the sombre yet sexy street sound of "Way From Me" featuring Tirzah, the exotic bass heavy swagger of Temple featuring the return of MIA with G DRAGON and "Kung Fu" featuring Pusha T & Future's street knowledge: speaking some truth proper!
