Review: Aussie producer Jarred Beeler aka DJ Plead returns to Livity Sound with the Quick EP. On the first side, you've got the contorted yet playful groove of 'Come Quick' and its nice steel drum melody, followed by the woozy cut 'Louca' taking you deep into mystical realms. Over on the flip, there's a dubby and slow burning stepper in the form of 'El Es' getting you into a deep medi state of mind, followed by the sublime 'Skittles' with its subtle bass pulsations underpinning a rich tapestry of melodic sequences.
Review: Deliciously deep breakbeat bliss from Jacques Green, 'Relay' first handed us the baton back at the start of the year and has been on heavy rotation ever since. Now it returns for a second lap of the track with this exceptional reboot from man of the moment Skee Mask. Bending heads a well as dancefloors, his remix delves deep into the cosmos as the track progresses. What begins as deep and spacious suddenly plunges into multi-dimensional fractured chaos. Let's do another lap.
Review: Fresh produce from Okyama: Keita Sano makes a long-overdue return to ROW with this remarkable and explorative EP. Impossible to classify as always, Sano eases us in with the swampy swagger of 'For Ultra Listening Enjoyment', a track that lives up to its name and sets the tone for the EP as we glide between the timeless tech breaks of 'Blur Ceramics', the cosmic dancehall of 'Inner Hall' and the trippy textures and old school breaks of the title track. Complete with a killer dubby breaks remix from Dayzero, the good folk of Leyton have a lot to be proud about right here!
Review: Off Beat remain on point with this exceptional adventure from label co-founder Ryvahl. Following on from last year's 'Footcell' comes another triptych of broken drum club treats as we dive deep into the subs and breakbeat science. 'Protopattern' takes the emotional pads and waves of early jungle and weaves them around a rattling, militant breaks groove, 'Send Signal' brings a little dubby bounce to the blend while 'Blacklight' goes full 3am mode with vast caverns of space and trippy humanized textures. No off button.
