Review: Gregor Tresher's Break New Soil imprint has been around for many years but has rarely been as prolific as it has in 2021. Since the label hit the 70th please mark there has been a steady stream of melodic techno from an array of global names. KMYLE is the artist debuting here, and he does so with a forward-thinking brand of techno that looks to the cosmos for its colour. 'Rise' is an early standout with its bulky broken beats and the tension in the chord sequences which is unresolved but endlessly alluring. The boss steps up to remix and adds some extra synth texture and energy and 'Dephn' then closes on a heavyweight roller.

Review: French live act Kmyle returns on French imprint Skryptom where the Toulouse based producer serves up some great perspectives of the harder side of hypnotic techno. On the A side "Telepathic Synchrony" features screeching monosynth patterns supported by brooding pad swells and powerful drums, while "Ringscape" is much more straight ahead on this powerful/peak time techno stomper. On the flip, we've got the deep and minimal techno journey "Paris" where the producer shows off his knowledge of his hardware on this 'less is more' approach, but it's all about the remix by fellow countryman Voiski who takes it into much more sublime, melodic and adrenalised territory.

Review: The ARTS label inclines to serve up some of the many great tunes it has previously only released digitally. This one brings together Shlomo and Kmlye for three no frills techno bangers. The first groans and moans with trippy pads and gritty chords, then Emmanuel remixes it into something bright and trance inducing. On the flips side, 'Ora' is the standout with its booming and rolling drums and more heavenly and celestial pads up top making for a fine tension. 'Capital' is the four piece of this puzzle and a loopy, hypnotic one at that.
