Review: It's only by way of funk's feathers that it may possibly take flight. So too do we fly high on the avian nape of DJ Tron's new instrumental funk LP, which delivers a whopping 11 new feathery exclusives to the ears. This isn't your average cutup funk LP either. Every track here is a thoroughly polished exquisite and each takes its namesake from the taxonomic name of a bird that exists somewhere in the world. The joys of twitching are channelled into the satisfying shakedowns of funk, be they the ruffage of the 'Masked Water Tyrant', the buzzing big bea(k/t)s of a flock of 'Crimson Topaz' and/or the swift grind that is 'Invisible Rail', all fluttering by in quick succession.

Review: Swiss breaks, hop-hop and house DJ Tron (Mike Mory) is best recognized as a certified b-boy, embarking on his musical career at the age of 14 by mixing Italo disco and acid house records together. Coming up as the likes of Beastie Boys and Public Enemy made waves, he later switched to breaks editry, graff, emceeing, and scratching. Now channelling his teenaged spirit, Mory returns for Play It Loud!, a full-length LP full of the noxiously addictive breaks-funk stuff, and featuring a series of bespoke novelty figurines to accompany it, handmade by Tron himself. Review: Mike "DJ Tron" Mory brings some super steamy summer vibes to Burning Sole with this heavily limited 7". He has been mixing beats since he was 14, apparently, so has a broad knowledge or everything from Italo to disco to salsa as showed here. 'Candela' brings the first to start with - organic percussion and Brazillian rhythms with natty keys and wordless vocals. On the flip side is 'Los Cojones', a more high tempo and hard hitting groove with wild guitar licks ramping up the energy levels and firing up the dancefloor.

Review: We could all do with a little more love, peace and unity in our life and DJ Tron is happy to oblige on his new one with Luana. The title track is an old school bit of hip hop with huge drum breaks, fills and a sing-along-chorus that's all about the good times. "Soul In Ya Mind" is a deeper and more considered jam with golden era flow and warmer chords, put still plenty of playful stabs and breaks to get you moving. Limited to just 100 copies but in three different colours, this one is sure to shift fast.
