Bringing higher levels of reductionist techno to the fore once again, Mika Vainio proves his might on the equally formidable Sahko with this exercise in uneasiness. "Olematon" proves to be the most animated track, with a discernible if microscopic beat punching out a rhythm while a delicate minor key melody plucks away with razor-sharp accuracy in an unforgiving and utterly engrossing fashion. "Uponnut" takes the beat down a notch and instead allows a fulsome sine wave to slowly flutter while distant echoes of prepared piano attempt to break its stranglehold. "Syvays" does away with drums to focus on an otherworldly kind of whale song approach.
