Phil Lynott, Eric Bell and Brian Downey made up the core of Thin Lizzy, the groundbreaking Irish hard rock and (sometimes) metal legends whose many 70s hits, from 'The Boys Are Back In Town' to 'Whiskey In The Jar', defined a melting-pot blanching then boiling of blues, soul, psych rock and Irish folk. They coincided with the Woodstock generation, lending it all an authentic Celtic twist, but were modern enough to collaborate with the Sex Pistols too. Now the powerful band-led charisma of Lynott and his two compadres is heard centre stage in a pared-back context; this record compiles material from their Decca era, revisiting songs from the band's first three albums, from 'Dublin' to ''Shades of a Blue Orphanage', in acoustic fashion.
