Releases from Yaneck Salvo under his Quarion guise have arrived on an intermittent basis, and they've largely surfaced through the Retreat label that the Swiss producer runs with Hauke Session Victim. A new year and it's a fresh start for the Quarion project with this debut on Muhk imprint run by Morphology's Matti Turunen. Salvo has admitted he tailored his approach with the label in mind for the Shale Gas EP and that's no bad thing, with the Quarion sound complemented by a rawer approach. The title track mans the A Side and demonstrates Salvo's capacity for wrenching real soul from his analogue machinery and it's complemented by two tempo varying B Side cuts that find him in a much more dancefloor focused frame of mind. The superbly named "Run That Shit (Guilty Pleasure #3)" is a particular highlight!
