The Swedish label Phorma debuted this year with an intriguing 12" by Norm Talley, with the Detroit legend supplying a track of dubby atmospherics rather than housey melodica. The second release comes from sound experimentalist JS aka James Zeiter with his track "Reduction". It helps strengthen the labels emerging sound aesthetic of dubby cadence and velvet smooth grooves with a production that sounds like a mellowed version of Tom Dicicco's "Night Erosion" released through Stockholm LTD. The B-side harbours a little more menace with Aconito Records boss Nax Acid working in some brooding Italian grunt, with sinister flares of droning synths licking a the heels of JS' original.
