Fresh label operation Gladio Operations are embarking on a new spate of releases. Extending the idea of splitting a slab of wax between artists to the music itself, 'Split Machine' is the latest from French-Spanish collaborators Jauzas The Shining and Cycloplex, united in their taste for rugged electro. Even so, their respective styles shine through nicely here: The former delivers three cuts of aggressive and textured basslines, while the latter offers two tracks of comparatively hypnotic rhythms. Though it's an elusive concept, both effortlessly convey the notion of the schism in the machine.
