Harmonicos: an exhilarating work of duetting guitar that began as a live collaboration in Japan between Fabiano do Nascimento and Shin Sasakubo. The former a Brazilian guitarist of high esteem in Japan, and the latter a guitarist from Chichibu whose links with South American music across the globe have mirrored Nascimento's reach, Harmonicos was laid down over the course of a three-day studio session at Oiso Salo studio, in the days immediately after their first live concert together. This is a long, but gone-in-a-flash, suite of overtonal call-responses and spatious, wood-floored mic-ups, capturing an unmistakable improvisatory lustre, a crystalline sound whose clarity is extremely well fleshed-out by an almost microscopic, fibrillose pickup quality.
