Deviation Volume 1 CD

Given his length of service and reputation, it's something of a surprise to find that Deviation Volume 1 marks Benji B's first foray into the compilation game. Named after his popular club night, the three-disc set gathers together tracks that fit the DJ's "listening music and music for the dancefloor" remit. It's a strong and predictably eclectic selection, with the two unmixed discs containing fine fare from the likes of Flying Lotus, Hunee, Pearson Sound, D'Angelo, Kelela, James Blake, Jam City and Radiohead. He also finds space to squeeze in cuts from lesser-known producers he's been championing, including MC T'East and GILA. As if that wasn't enough to get us all excited, disc three's DJ mix is a lesson in entertaining eclecticism.
