Review: There's not many musicians who embody the sound of American rock 'n' roll as much as Bob Seger does. From the brooding introspection of 'Turn the Page' to the anthemic uplift of 'Like a Rock', this package of hits traverses decades of deeply resonant, unpretentious storytelling set to thundering drums and searing guitar. This greatest hits makes a powerful return on vinyl, pressed impeccably and sounding every bit as raw and soulful as the legacy it encapsulates. What sets Seger apart is his ability to merge working-class grit with melodic muscle. 'Night Moves' remains one of rock's most poignant coming-of-age narratives, while 'Against the Wind' offers quiet rebellion with a wistful heart. Even lighter tracks like 'Old Time Rock and Roll' bristle with conviction and energy, showing Seger's deep reverence for the roots of the genre. Comparisons to Springsteen and Van Morrison are natural, but while Seger's characters and cadences echo theirs, his brand of rustbelt rock is its own breed: proud, grounded and radiantly human. Back on vinyl and sounding terrific with its analogue warmth, it's quikcly clear why this compilation became the best-selling catalogue album of its decade.

Review: NOIR was Smino's second album and a great progression from the first. It originally came in 2018 under Interscope/Downtown Records and it built on debut BLKSWN with some stylish forays into the worlds of neo-soul, funk, hip hop, and r&b. Across a diverse range of sounds, NOIR features standout singles like 'Z4L,' 'KLINK,' 'LMF,' and "FENTY SEX' and includes guest appearances from the likes of Ravyn Lenae, Dreezy, and Valee. Not only is 'Tequila Mockingbird' our favourite track title on the album but it's also a lovely track that blends classic dub with yearning r&b vocals and jazzy musicality.
