Review: To our ears, 1975's Radioactivity is Kraftwerk's most ghostly and otherworldly album. It was famously their first set made entirely with electronic instruments - some home-made - and now sounds like a bridge between the more krautrock-style hypnotism of the earlier Autobahn and the slicker, more tuneful albums that followed it. In other words, it's as weird, alien and otherworldly as it is ground-breaking and pop-leaning. This 2020 reissue is well worth picking up, not least because it comes pressed on translucent yellow vinyl and comes accompanied by a glossy, 16-page booklet full of iconic Kraftwerk images.

Review: Autobhan, the 1974 album that began Kraftwerk's ascent to legendary status, is still capable of making the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. The headline attraction remains the absorbing, mesmerising, 22-minute title track, a musical whizz down an imaginary three-lane highway that's as evocative and atmospheric as they come. That said, the album's lesser-celebrated, more experimental flip-side tracks (and in particular the jaunty 'Kometenmelodie 2'), are also inspired. Here it gets the 2020 reissue treatment via a tasty blue vinyl pressing that comes packaged with a 12-page booklet of historic photos and typically utilitarian imagery.

Tour De France (5:08)
Review: Kraftwerk first toyed with the idea of making a concept album based on the Tour De France in the early 1980s, so it was probably inevitable that the cycling-mad group would eventually deliver on that promised. First released in 2003 and now reissued in re-mastered form on red and blue vinyl, the album is the most techno-centric set in the band's discography. While it still boasts their usual recurring melodic themes, tuneful motifs and robotic vocoder vocals, many of its hypnotic and euphoric tracks (particularly the three-part title track that dominates the first half of the album) are far weightier and more club-focused than their earlier releases. For that reason alone, it's worth a place in your collection.

Review: Kraftwerk never bothered releasing a standard 'greatest hits' album. Instead, in 1991 they offered up The Mix, a set of brand-new digital recordings of some of their best-loved tracks. It received a lukewarm reception at the time, in part because it was marketed and reviewed as a remix album (which it isn't), but it's actually a thrill-a-minute romp that has formed the basis of their live shows ever since. It contains some fantastic re-arranged takes on such familiar favourites as 'Radioactivity', 'The Robots', 'Computer Love' and 'Autobahn', the latter of which is quite radically different (and, surprisingly, jazzier). This time round, it comes presented on ice-white vinyl and comes accompanied by a smart looking 20-page booklet.

Review: You still won't find a more perfect electro album than Kraftwerk's Computer World, and it was the album that pretty much invented the style. That much is clear from this fresh 2020 reissue, which presents the iconic 1981 set on translucent yellow vinyl, accompanied by a slick booklet of fitting Kraftwerkian imagery. While 'Computer World', 'Pocket Calculator' and 'Computer Love' are near perfect electro-pop songs, it's the sheer heaviness and funkiness of the B-boy friendly beats on 'Home Computer', 'It's More Fun To Compute' and, most famously, 'Numbers' that make it such an essential. Put simply, Computer World still sounds like the future.

Review: The 50th anniversary edition of Kraftwerk's Autobahn finally completes its decennial German interstate journey and lands in our drool-covered laps. With founding Kraftwerk member Ralf Hutter revisiting the record's original 16-track master tapes with engineer Fritz Hilpert, the group not only made a brand new Dolby Atmos mix for the CD edition, but have also reissued the original record in the never-seen-before picture disc form you see here. A cosmic pop overland journey, the vinyl remaster also lends the record an extra-dimensionality we didn't know possible; recumbent across it, and brought out to swelling prominence, are its tweezed, filter-cutoff sine chords, evoking the continual movement of rustic landscapes streaming past our eyes. Though at first received only to mixed acclaim, Kraftwerk's fourth LP was rightly hailed in hindsight for its simple automotive theme and change in sound, away from the Robots' emergent kosmische and into self-reflexive electropop. All this emboldened Kraftwerk as a band that could somehow cruise in the fast lane, accelerating with ease through the shifting stylistic sands of the mid 1970s.

Review: When rapper and multi-instrumentalist Mac Miller died of an accidental overdose in 2018, he left behind an unfinished two-part album project: "Swimming" (released last year) and "Circles", which has now landed on wax after getting a digital release earlier in 2020. It's a musically diverse and mostly introspective affair, with Miller shuffling between styles wearily and switching roles (singer-songwriter, rapper, multi-instrumentalist, beat-maker) seemingly at will. While such role hopping could have resulted in a sonic mess, the set sounds surprisingly coherent, not least because the thread running through it all is Miller's painful soul searching and well documented mental health issues. As a posthumous full stop to a life ended all too soon, "Circles" certainly hits home hard.

Body Language remains one of Kylie Minogue's finest records, in particular finding some truly inspirational crossover between the Aussie pop queen's immaculate voice and a more sultry kind of club music. When an album opens up with a track as perfect as 'Slow', you know you're in for a treat. There are of course many different sides to the record, and there's space for different stylistic approaches besides the floor fillers, but it's the likes of 'I Feel For You' with its cut-up disco loops that give Minogue the backing she deserves to bring the club to life. This edition of the album comes pressed on blood red vinyl, all the better to set pulses racing.

Review: Morrissey's live album, Beethoven Was Deaf, originally released in 1993, has been remastered at Abbey Road Studios and is set for reissue. Recorded during the Your Arsenal tour in Paris in 1993, the album captures Morrissey at his best, performing large chunks from that album - the likes of 'Glamorous Glue' and 'Certain People I Know' noticeably inspired by glam rock - alongside favourites like 'Suedehead' and 'Everyday is Like Sunday' and other classics from the earliest phase of what turned out to be a lengthy solo career. The remastering promises to enhance the listening experience, offering fans a chance to rediscover one of his more vibrant and expressive live performances.

Review: The Pet Shop Boys' latest album arrives four years after their last release and is their 15th album in total, and as you'd expect from a pair who've been honing their craft for a good 40 years with no sign of any let up, it's packed with excellence. Sublime pop rubs shoulders with throbbing dance anthems and terrific, more introspective pieces, and - like on its first single, 'Loneliness' - you sometimes get a bit of all of them wrapped up into one. Superlative quality music from pop's elder statesmen.

Review: Few synth-pop acts have captured the elegance, wit, and sheer dancefloor appeal of this UK dance pop duo, and this compilation remains the definitive snapshot of their first five years. Originally released in 1992, this double album compiles 18 of their biggest hits, now reissued on striking blue vinyliis a remarkable album that is full of excellent songs that flow like a no other. The track list reads like a masterclass in electronic pop. From the moody, detached cool of 'West End Girls' to the euphoric satire of 'Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)', the duo's signature mix of sharp social commentary and irresistible melodies is on full display. 'It's a Sin' and 'Always on My Mind' showcase their ability to turn theatrical drama into anthemic dancefloor epics, while 'Domino Dancing' and 'Left to My Own Devices' reveal a Latin-infused, orchestral ambition. The collection also includes 'Where the Streets Have No Name (I Can't Take My Eyes Off You)', a bold, unexpected U2/Frankie Valli mashup and 'Was It Worth It?', a then-new single that closes the album with reflective melancholy. Sonically, the reissue retains the crisp production that made these tracks timeless, while the blue vinyl adds a collector's appeal. More than just a greatest hits album, Discography is an album that gathered their impact in a perfect compilation.

Review: Shinedown make just the kind of heavy electronic rock that could put Bring Me The Horizon to shame. Boundless and headbanging in scope, their new album 'Planet Zero' explores an American pre-apocalypse - "there might be no tomorrow" - inspired by the band's exasperation with the American political climate emergent over the course of the past few years and into the present. With the US referred to by the band as "planet zero", here's an emotive rock album that makes bittersweet do with the face of things.

Review: Ludovic Navarre aka St Germain requires no introduction, and the French house legend has literally seen and done it all ever since his first productions began to surface and influence other house artists back in the early 1990's golden era. The majority of his music has been released on F Communications, but his latest studio album drops on EMI's Parlophone sublabel. The self-titled St Germain is a proper LP, not a mere collection of house tracks put together helter-skelter. Inside, you'll hear many of Navarre's influences and inspirations, from Afro tribal melodies, to jazzy influences and even Middle-Eastern chimes. It's a house album in structure, but much more than that beneath the surface...as it always was from the legend of French dance music.

La Folie
Review: The Stranglers La Folie was a pivotal album that showed their unique blend of punk and pop. The Stranglers have navigated their evolution through various lineup changes, most notably losing original vocalist Hugh Cornwell. While the initial wave of punk was marked by raw enthusiasm and amateur musicianship, the Stranglers stood apart as seasoned artists. Their foundational members brought professional skills to the table, with Jean-Jacques Burnel's classical guitar background and Jet Black's jazz drumming contrasting the typical punk aesthetic. With La Folie, the band pivoted into new territory, balancing their characteristic roughness with refined pop sensibilities. Each of the tracks is among their finest, featuring a range of themes centered around love. Highlights include the catchy 'Pin-Up' and the melancholic 'Golden Brown'. The title track encapsulates the album's essence, blending wit and introspection in a way that remains unparalleled in their discography. La Folie is a shinning example to the Stranglers' originality complete with the spirit of punk in an unexpected and compelling form.

Review: To mark the 40th anniversary of Talk Talk's landmark album It's My Life, this special edition reissue is cut at half-speed by Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios, with oversight from Talk Talk drummer Lee Harris and Charlie Hollis, son of the late Mark Hollis. Originally released in February 1984, It's My Life followed the band's debut with a more refined sound and greater international success. Tracks like 'Such a Shame' and the title track became staples, achieving top ten hits across Europe and entering the US Top 40. The reissue has been meticulously crafted, utilising an extensively modified Neumann VMS-80 lathe with an upgraded SX74 cutterhead, improved magnetics and a new pitch control system. Enhanced filtering and correction circuitry designed by James Kedwards ensure that this anniversary edition delivers unprecedented depth and clarity. Fans of the band and audiophiles alike will appreciate this expertly produced celebration of Talk Talk's influential second album.

Review: Few bands have undergone as profound a transformation as this British group, and this collection carefully traces that evolution. Spanning five albums, it highlights both their early synth-pop success and their later, more expansive sound. The journey begins with 'Talk Talk', a defining moment of the early 80s, followed by the powerful 'Today' and the reflective 'Have You Heard The News?'. 'It's My Life' remains a landmark, its reputation only growing over time, while 'Such A Shame' solidifies its status as an essential deep cut and cult favorite. The second half of the set balances the band's shift toward a richer, more organic approach. 'Life's What You Make It' bridges the transition, blending anthemic hooks with a more intricate sonic landscape. 'Living In Another World' and 'Give It Up' further explore this textured sound. By the time the collection reaches 'April 5th' and 'Time It's Time', the songwriting has taken on a deeper, more atmospheric quality. 'I Believe In You' stands as one of the band's most emotionally powerful moments, reflecting their ability to craft songs with immense depth. The final stretch features 'Eden' and 'Wealth', leading into 'New Grass'ia stunning closer from their final album, widely regarded as a masterpiece. Thoughtfully sequenced, this compilation works as both an introduction and a celebration. A perfect update to their best of - Natural History - from way back in 1990.

Review: The always innovative Emma-Jean Thackray's second album continues her tradition of exploring the edges of standard genres with a bold exploration of grief, selfhood and resilience. Created entirely by Thackray in her South London flat, it meshes jazz, pop, soul, p-funk and grunge into a personal journey in which tracks like 'Wanna Die' contrast frenetic beats with raw emotion while tackling mental health with humour and vulnerability. Featuring collaborations with Reggie Watts and Kassa Overall, the album honours individuality and neurodivergence while processing profound loss and results in Thackray's most intimate and daring work to date-an honest, chaotic, and cathartic celebration of surviving and thriving through pain.

Review: Peter Tosh's Mama Africa album, now reissued on red vinyl, features the legendary reggae artist at his finest. Combining reggae with African musical influences, the album opens with a powerful ode to the motherland in its title track. Tosh's adaptation of Chuck Berry's 'Johnny B. Goode' is another standout, blending rock guitar with a reggae rhythm and relocating the lyrics to Jamaica, further cementing his crossover appeal. The Tamlins' backing vocals enrich three tracks and Donald Kinsey's impressive guitar work is featured throughout. Tosh revisits his Wailers days with a reworked version of 'Maga Dog' and the fan-favorite 'Stop That Train'. His militancy comes through on 'Peace Treaty'. a scathing critique adorned with sound effects of gunfire. Tracks like 'Not Gonna Give Up' aim to uplift Africa's people, while 'Feel No Way' is a minimalistic rub-a-dub tune with understated backing. Tosh's unrelenting advocacy for justice and his Rastafarian beliefs permeate the album, reflecting his rebellious spirit and commitment to social equality. His solo career, following the dissolution of The Wailers in 1974, was defined by a fearless approach to music and activism, until his life was tragically cut short in 1987. Mama Africa remains one of Tosh's most significant works.
