The Forgotten City
Cat: MTB 016. Rel: 26 Nov 24

Techno
Phylyps Frequencies (6:44)
Eternal Source (6:43)
Forgotten City (6:24)
Frost Will Never Come (5:30)
Review: A masterful exploration of techno that showcases a range of styles across its four tracks. Side-1 opens with 'Phylyps Frequencies', an epic techno monster that pays homage to Basic Channel with its deep, resonant beats and atmospheric textures. Following this, 'Eternal Source' delivers heavy chord progressions reminiscent of Steve Rachmad, creating an expansive and emotionally charged soundscape. On Side-2, 'Forgotten City' brings a melodic Detroit techno influence, combining nostalgic elements with a driving rhythm that captivates from start to finish. The EP concludes with 'Frost Will Never Come', a brisk and clean tech house track that feels light and flighty, evoking a sense of soaring through the air. This energetic finale rounds out a release that perfectly balances depth and dynamism, making 'The Forgotten City' EP a standout in Ecilo's discography.

Kaidan EP
Kaidan EP (12")
Cat: MTB 019. Rel: 20 Jun 25

Techno
Kaidan
Sanjuro
Kobayashi
Sayuri
Review: German label Mitsubasa hears techno as a vessel and opportunity for spiritual reharmonisation, their name translating to mean "three wings", standing for the soul, heart and mind. Fresh signee Luigi Urban aka Obscure Shape stops in from Stuttgart, earning the deed for yet another four grooves: 'Kaidan' and 'Sanjuro' pull no kicks, securing a warehouse-ready, 4x4 rager mood. The emphasis on stinger chords continues, but 'Kobayashi' hears a subsiding in mood, and 'Sayuri' ends on a beautiful depth emersion, flippering gracefully beneath the surface to produce a sweaty, wet and deep dolphin ballet.

Surfacing EP
Cat: MTB 018. Rel: 02 Apr 25

Techno
Signature (4:48)
Do High (4:54)
Far From The Madding (4:31)
Overcircle (4:49)
Review: Mitsubasa means "three-wings" in Japanese and those wings stand for the soul, the heart and the mind. All of them are taken care of with this new one from the label as SLV taps into Detroit techno heat on the opener. It's awash with textural synths and speedy drum funk. 'Do High' drops in a pitched-up vocal hook that cannot fail to get that extra bit of real iron in the club, especially as the drums surge with such style and euphoria. 'Far From The Madding' is another one wrapped up in synth overloads that build intensely over minimal drums and 'Overcircle' then strips things back to tight, bouncy loops.
