Review: ** REPRESS ALERT! Danny Wolfers engages in some cheating to maintain his 2013 weekly release schedule with a colour vinyl repress of 2011 album The TEAC Life ** On his website, he describes the 14-track opus as "deep, tape saturated forest-techno", as adroit a summation of his sound as any scribe has ever managed. The title is an obvious nod to the equipment made to construct the album, an admission which, rather than spoiling the mystique, only adds to it. The 14 tracks paint incredibly vivid images, from the audible tape hiss and raw drums on opener "The Night Wind", which leads to the windswept landscape of "Half Moon 106? and the slightly more polished Chicagoan jack of "The Soul of a City". The Virgo-esque string led romanticism of "Metro Airport" is one of many high points on what was one of 2011's best albums.

Review: Previously given away as a free digital release, Legowelt's The TEAC Life gets a richly deserved vinyl pressing, comprised of four twelve inches. On his website, he describes the 14-track opus as "deep, tape saturated forest-techno", as adroit a summation of his sound as any scribe has ever managed. Review: If for some reason you didn't pick up the full 4xLP version of Legowelt's essential album The Teac Life earlier this year, you can now purchase them up us individual EPs. Featuring four tracks that the producer himself describes as "deep, tape saturated forest-techno", this first part moves from the audible tape hiss and raw drums on opener "The Night Wind", through the windswept landscape of "Half Moon 106", with the flip taking in the proto jack of "The Soul Of A City" and the sublime hypnotics of "Forest Conditioner".

Beyond Ur Self
Wherever We Go
Review: After self-releasing the quadruple vinyl version of The Teac Life last year in a move of bold self-reliance, Legowelt is returning to the lauded collection of analogue wonder to make choice cuts more widely available. In the second instalment, you can get lost in the euphoric string stabs of "Metro Airport", or thoroughly befuddled in the loping groove of "Moon Mist". However it's "Beyond Ur Self" that really stands out, finely balancing the elements so that the bright and bold melodies sit nicely with the more submerged elements, all the while creating that mysterious atmosphere that defines Legowelt's music like no-one elses.
