Review: Pretty much bang on for presenting an album every two to three years, England's The Coral present their latest effort, with artwork as ironic as it gets. The album, it's said, is inspired by a playlist heard at their local Wirral fair and each track across Move Through The Dawn can be safely filed away as soft rock. The happy, country-vibe times of the band's demeanour rolls on and tambourines shake, vocals are harmonised and guitar solos fly, though it's the melancholic, vespertine energy of the album that leaves its mark. Highlights for us include feelgood album opener "Eyes Like Pearls" and the late-80s rock pop revival "Undercover Of The Night".

Review: These Liverpudlian beat mavens have always - like many great bands - been a mass of contradictions. Perpetually youthful yet with a sound forever entrenched in the heady haze of the late '60s, they've now set themselves up as something of an institution for a mindset based on worn copies of 'Forever Changes' and 'Five Leaves Left, Yet 'Distance Inbetween' - their first for five years - is proof positive that their charm, for all its familiarity, is unlikely to wear off soon. A bold and colourful display of world-class songwriting and heavy-lidded cool from perennial psychedelic peacocks.

Review: Whether you're a big Stereophonics fan or not, there are two fundamental truths. One - 'Local Boy In the Photograph' wonderfully encapsulates a period in our lives we will treasure forever, and remains a tune to this day. Two - Kelly Jones is one of the finest singers of his generation, capable of moving between melancholia and euphoria in equal measure, all with a whisky-raw delivery that positioned him as experienced veteran long before he'd even cracked a single crow's foot on those wise eyes. Inevitable Incredible is the latest proof he's still got it. Yes, this is very easy going stuff and aimed squarely at a kind of middle-soft-rock-folk-leaning-country-indie audience. But, also yes, everything here hits with real emotional resonance and the songwriting is superb. Tender, vulnerable, resolutely human, if this is what happens when Jones hauls up on a Norwegian island solo, and spends six days recording on his piano, we'd like that to happen more often.
