I Washed You (edit de Prince Language)
Review: Prince Language provides yet more reason to heap praise on his towering shoulders with this retooling of Gary Low's "I Watched You" on his Editions Disco imprint. Head straight for the genius "FrenchKissmix" on Side A which strips the Italo bump of the original of its cheesier vocal excesses to concentrate on sucking you in via the groove before dropping 30 bpms to replicate the Washed Out track that sampled it before gradually picking up speed again.

Prince Language - "You Can't Go" (edit)
K Cin - "Sun Sun Sun" (edit)
Review: It's been a while since we've heard from the Editions Disco crew, and that's because our friends have been rather busy! Luckily, Prince Language has also found time to create the epic "You Can't Go" - a massive, dubbed-out re-working of Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes' "Don't Leave Me This Way", a Philly disco classic that was a huge track for the likes of Ron Hardy, Larry Levan and pretty much everyone else that matters. On the flipside we have "Sun Sun Sun" by Boston's K Civ - he transforms Jakki's original Paradise Garage and Loft favourite into a dark, druggy rhythmic workout with an ominously funky spiralling bassline that gives it a much more dirty and hard-edged feeling than the original.

Prince Language - "Yo Son" (edit)
Lee Douglas - "Bamalama" (edit)
Review: With "Yo Son", Prince Language delivers an edit of an 80s obscurity that sounds like it could have been an outtake from Remain In Light-era Talking Heads backing an Arabic r&b group! The track has an insistent groove powered by a minimally funky, Nile Rogers-esque guitar lick and a bassline that just does not quit.

Stay Up (Prince Language edit)
Broadway (Lee Douglas edit)
Review: After a three year hiatus of sorts, The Editions Disco label has remerged with two EPs this year. The second of those EPs, Stay Up, sees Prince Language and TBD's Lee Douglas spruce up some of their chosen favourites. Prince Language adds psychedelic phase action to an acoustic-disco jam of jangly guitars and beefy bass that sounds like a combination of Devo, David Bowie and Talking Heads produced by Brian Eno. On the flip is Lee Douglas' edit to what seems a like rendition of a Stevie Wonder-like "Broadway", only lightly draped in resplendent reverb with polite, yet jovial crowd applause.
