Review: After establishing his name with a pair of rock-solid EPs on F*CLR Music, Glenn Davis established Deeper Groove Recordings as an outlet for his sparkling, melody-rich club workouts. A Place For You, his third outing on the imprint, is undeniably gorgeous - especially the EP-opening title track, where colurful synth riffs, sustained synth-strings and sun-splashed chords leap above a tactile deep house groove. The positivity, warmth and sonic colour continues on the chunkier and groovier 'Take Me To The Club', which is given a more thickset, classic U.S deep house-sounding rework by veteran deep house don Franck Roger. To round off an excellent EP, the Irish producer opts for a spiritually rich, piano-laden sound (and a killer analogue bassline) on 'Who Are People'.

Review: Many within the deep house community felt a profound sense of loss at the passing of Mike Huckaby in 2020. Among them was Cork-based duo Southbound Sounds, whose new EP pays tribute to the Motor City legend. Snippets of Huckaby's voice, plucked from a variety of sources, are scattered across title track 'Educator', a superb slab of Detroit futurism-influenced deep house brilliance rich in melancholic motifs, tactile synth bass, bittersweet chords and rolling beats. John Daly remixes, giving the track more of a beatdown swing while retaining the bassline and poignant musical elements from the pair's original mix. Elsewhere, 'Keep It Movin' is a sumptuous, dancefloor ready deep house soundscape underpinned by swinging machine drums, while 'Upstairs' is a dubby, pleasingly electronic deep house throb-job.

Review: Deeper Groove keeps it deep indeed with this one, a new four-track EP which includes a remix from Glenn Davis. Southbound Sounds is behind the original beats starting with the delightfully wispy cosmic synth details of 'Whiplash' which bring future feels to trad house beats. 'Vortex' layers up nice dusty drums and louche percussion with more heady pads and 'Whiplash' (Glenn Davis remix) then cruises on nice blissed out vibes and warming chords. 'Beacon' shuts down with a nice organic vibe, spring day melodies and silky pads.
