Review: It's quite shocking it's been six years since the last Caribou album, 2014's knockout "Our Love". Dan Snaith has never felt the need to rush his music out, and there was an interim Daphni album in 2017 to be fair to the guy, but here we are with a new set that sees Snaith returning to a little of the delicate songwriting and winsome electronica he forged his reputation on in the early days. There's a lot going on in here, from smooth as silk yacht rock-isms to deliriously modernist cut ups and more than a few wild pitch shifts to keep listeners on their toes. It's playful and heartfelt, and rarely lingers in one place for too long while still retaining a sense of calm. It may be not at all what you expected from Caribou's return, but we'd wager it's even better than you hoped.

Review: Caribou shares his latest record, this time for City Slang, Honey. The timely follow-up to 2020's Suddenly, Honey comes preceded by the forerunning singles 'Broke My Heart', 'Volume' and 'Honey'. Caribou aka. Dan Snaith has more than proven his mettle as a multifarious artist, with the toweringly popular Odessa album only scratching the surface of what could otherwise be described as a much more experimental, tricky and salubriously varied discography. Honey plays up the pop-oriented capabilities of Snaith's many-tentacled sound, circling the intentionally mystified identity of the artist himself; 'Come Find Me' asks the listener to come find Snaith, while its corresponding music video features a childlike figure in a Brave New World-style jumpsuit, dancing to the song, as if to suggest a coquettish playfulness, poking through the swellingly progressive, end-of-summer house track. Adding to the pangram of bright and hopeful post-folktronica hits, Honey is sure to attract all the late-summer dance bees.

Review: Honey stands as a distinct entry in Caribou's evolving catalog. Dan Snaith has always been known for reinventing his sound with each release, and this album is no exception. It represents a continuation of his journey, combining the rich, pop sensibilities he's honed over years of music-making. Following the deeply personal themes of his previous albums, Suddenly and the Grammy-nominated Our Love, Snaith shifts focus on Honey to explore more universal themes. The album seamlessly merges the infectious energy of his Daphni project with the emotive, uplifting qualities that define Caribou. Tracks are built for the dancefloor, bursting with unexpected twists and vibrant layers that only Snaith can deliver. Honey doesn't feel like a departure from Caribou's past, but rather a natural progression that unites his dual identities. The album is a testament to Snaith's restless creativity, as he continues to push boundaries and refuses to be confined by any single genre or approach. This release excels through sound and emotion.

Review: COMA has always operated in a world where melody is in high supply and indie and electronica have collided in fresh new ways. The artist is not one to hide away from a big hook or a pop tip line and always manages to imbue their work with tons of emotion. This new album is another step forward that investigates sonic realms ask just how broad the scope of club music can really be. That means Fuzzy Fantasy is in many ways a departure from all-out dance floor focus into something more human and nuanced.

Review: Efterklang's seventh studio album, Things We Have In Common, closes a musical chapter that began with Altid Sammen and continued through Windflowers. Embracing a simpler, more inclusive approach, the album reflects a gentler harmonic tension and straightforward tonal language. While Altid Sammen explored human community and Windflowers delved into nature, Things We Have In Common centers on collective spirituality and belonging. The album reunites the core trioiMads Brauer, Casper Clausen, and Rasmus Stolbergiwith former member Rune Molgaard, whose spiritual journey has profoundly shaped the album. Molgaard co-wrote seven of the nine tracks, infusing the record with his unique perspective. Featuring contributions from international artists like Zach Condon, Tatu Ronkko, Hector Tosta, and Mabe Fratti, and notable collaborations with Francesco Donadello and the South Denmark Girls' Choir, the album marks Efterklang's 20th anniversary with a rich, evolving soundscape that reflects two decades of artistic growth and reconnection. Come and enjoy one of the most underrated bands of the millennium.

Review: Big Swimmer marks a significant evolution for King Hannah, reflecting a newfound confidence and clarity in their sound. Merrick's vocals soar with a newfound assurance, complemented by Whittle's blazing guitar work. The album strikes a balance between prickly and heartening imagery, leaving listeners spellbound and emotionally stirred. With each track, King Hannah showcases a deep understanding of their strengths and vision for the future, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in their sonic landscape. From traversing the waters of the Atlantic to commanding rock venues, the band's journey is palpable in every note. Big Swimmer is a compelling testament to King Hannah's growth and artistic prowess, leaving listeners with hairs standing on end and a yearning for the summer lake depicted in its enchanting storytelling.

Review: Huge bass lines, a lot of shouting and swearing about the injustices that surround the world we live in today, crashing drums and a harsh guitar all make up the ferocious sound of Punk Rock 2025 and specifically this debut Lambrini Girls album. Phoebe Lunny's lyrics are delivered with venom and clarity that the listener may not want to eventually sing along to but will surely digest and be influenced by as the social ills that seem to be nudging us on a daily basis are still not subsiding. While the world are getting to grips with the rise of bands such as Amyl & The Sniffers this UK take on society's failings are similar to the subject matter one or two Punk Rock bands have been screaming about since the late 1970's. Sexual harassment within the workplace, police brutality and the misconduct that has surrounded the police force recently, same sex relationships, gentrification, gay rights, trans rights...these subjects are all covered here with hints of sarcasm, wit, anger and conviction (vodka and cider too maybe?). One or two light hearted moments mean it's not too difficult a listen despite some of the serious subject matter and all delivered in a way not heard since Bikini Kill or X Ray Spex. A speedy, 30 minute album that'll be listened to again and again for many years to come.

Review: "I will scrap any Terf, any day, in person" is a quote from Phoebe Lunny, one half of new school visceral Brighton based post-punk duo Lambrini Girls, who following in the steps of Idles (who they recently toured as support for) and Amyl & The Sniffers, aim to provide a cathartic outlet for all the current fuckery of the world. With on-the-nose, to-the-point bangers like 'Filthy Rich Nepo Baby' or the grinding lead single 'Company Culture' that offers such (for some) tragically relatable lyrical gems such as "Michael, I don't want to suck you off on my lunch break", this is a debut of genuine exhaustive fury emboldened by menacing sonic restraint, utilising minimalist compositions to conjure feelings of decrepit unease to match their message. Self-described LGBTQ+ allies, the pair craft the soundtrack to the fractured edges of composure the left-leaners of their (or any generation) presently feel when confronted with blatant xenophobia, be it homophobic, transphobic or just basic misogyny, whichever your toxic predilection, Who Let The Dogs Out has a place for you on its shitlist.

Review: This is a special Night Vision cover sleeve version of a special new album that will explode any party with its worldly rhythmical charms. Los Bitchos' 2022 debut Let the Festivities Begin! was a superb one that made for raucous listening and now Talkie Talkie is the technicolor explosion. Featuring dynamic guitar riffs and infectious beats, it marks a bold evolution in their distinctive fusion of global rock'n'roll influences. It was produced by the band alongside Oli Barton-Wood (who has worked with Wet Leg and Nilufer Yanya) and engineer Giles Barrett, and marks a bold step for Talkie Talkie.

Review: Jessica Pratt's third solo album is a blessing from the start, with opener, "Opening Night", setting the album's tone as a sojourn through a fresh but solemn memory, like strolling through a mist swept pasture. With Pratt's unique vocal ranging tied up in a mix of space, crackle and forgotten reverie, her vocals at times sounding as if they're lost somewhere in a wireless ether. With softly played chords and delicate strumming sitting in tune with dreamy interludes and folky motifs, City Slang have arguably dropped their best record for 2019 first.

Review: English singer-songwriter Anna B Savage wrote this album as "a love letter to a man and to Ireland." The City Slang-signee recently relocated from Britain to Donegal, Ireland, having initially made the jump across the Irish sea to study a master's in music in Dublin. The Irish connection is palpable throughout, with song titles 'Donegal' and 'Mo Cheol Thu'' a case in point and her collaborators rooted in the underground music community there. Producer John 'Spud' Murphy is famed for his Lankum connection. And credited musicians from the Emerald Isle include Anna Mieke, Kate Ellis, Caimin Gilmore from Crash Ensemble and Cormac MacDiarmada from Lankum. Anna Mieke is a featured guest vocalist on the beautiful 'Agnes'. It's a song that blends of mind-bogglingly imaginative instrumentation and arrangement with stark, beautiful folk. Savage has ventured into highly ambitious terrain on this album and has delivered a commanding performance in doing so.

Review: Soft Tissue highlights the continued evolution for Tindersticks, their 14th album representing a dynamic exploration of new sonic territories. With a palpable sense of mutual curiosity driving their creative process, the band delves into intimate conversations that yield a rich blend of sound and emotion. From the opening track 'New World' to the soulful 'Turned My Back' and the dappled hope of 'Soon to be April,' Soft Tissue navigates themes of personal and public worlds with finesse. Stuart Staples' introspective reflections, supported by the band's tight arrangements and restless details, create a compelling sonic landscape that is both intimate and experimental. With vocals, strings, and brass completed in London, the album upholds Tindersticks' longstanding readiness to stretch themselves creatively.
