Review: Norwegian outfit Les Imprimes have already found their feet with their earliest outings on Big Crown. As they continue to build towards their new album Reverie they drop another single from it here in the form of 'Falling Away' backed with 'Still Here'. Both cuts are beautiful and display fine musicianship, the sort of soul that melts your heart and breezy grooves that bring calm to your mind and body. Vocals enrich each cut and on this evidence, the upcoming album is going to be special indeed.

Review: Bobby Ozra was on tour back in 2019 and the final date was in New York City. He had some time before returning home to Finland so hooked up with El Michel's Affair and Diamond Mine to record some music. The pair hit it off immediately, and Bobby used the chance to write about more esoteric subjects with the pair soon deciding to work on a full length album together. They are now well on with that process but in the meantime offer up two new gems. 'Losing It' is sun in Spanish and English and is a dramatic and moving tune while 'Watcha Know' explores death with some philosophical ponderings.

This is a 45rpm debut from this band and a fine one too that comes all the way from their homeland of Surabaya, Indonesia. Review: Those superb soul overs at Big Crown have dug deep again and unearthed a new one from Thee Marloes, who turn out a ballad sung in Indonesian. It's an inescapably exotic vocal and it comes over a stripped down track made from lovely hand drums, warm electric piano, and super guitar lines. This tune comes as the Thee Marloes are in the midst, we're told, of working on their new album but whether it is a tune from it is unsure. On the B-side of the 45rpm is 'True Love', another heartwarming gem with worldly charm and unforgettable grooves.

The tracklist takes in new school names as well as now well known stars of the soul world and they all have their own distinctive personalities. Some go for sombre blue-eyed styles, others more raw and old school. With "outernational" intentions, their latest album for Big Crown is a bulbous strut down the street, marching confidently through enmity-melting backbeats and fulgurant baglama solos played by leader Yildirim - all designed to allay the worst of the world's oppressions and injustices. Connecting threads of collective resistance, longing, protest song, and hope, the album follows a progressive streak loudly taken up by the band since 2014, but the mood is endearing and softly appeasing, rather reactive to the struggle.
