Review: Celebrating their 250th release in style, Jalapeno founders Skeewiff return to some of their foremost classics on a cheeky scarlet 45. The instantly distinctive Mel Torme cover "Coming Home" gets a cool stripped back twist that's not seen the light of wax before while "Triumph Stags" swings like the 60s are still a thing. A witty riposte to Brexit or just a damn fine pant-whirling party track? You decide.
Review: Bumping ghetto house with a strong twang of mid 90s rawness, POI hits hard once again with this grainy roller. Drenched in dense pads, cries and chimes but arranged with more than enough space and pace for the industrial strength b-boy breakbeats to cut through, this can crossover into any set from any direction. Highly limited, too.
Review: West country glitch fusioneers Phibes hit the black plastic with two killer party pieces. "Virginia Swing" takes us deep south with the duo's bulbous bass textures and a super dope switch into a little Dixieland debauchery. Flip for a Motown heavy hitter as "Funky Rubber Band" pays homage to a classic with some killer builds, fugly bass and an energy that's not dissimilar to a young Plump DJs' remix of War many many moons ago. Don't forget the popcorn.
