||2.||"Chopped Icebreaker" (Roman Flugel remix)|
Launched last year, Chicago label Stolen Kisses has impressed with its intermittent output thus far, securing material from Hakim Murphy and BNJMN as well as Santiago Salazar and Andy Stott remixes. Founder Steve Mizek (who also runs Little White Earbuds) revealed earlier this year that the label would now have a limited five release shelf life as sub label to his main Argot operation, but this third drop demonstrates Stolen Kisses is no less ambitious in its output. Spanish producer Leonid Nevermind provides the original material on Third Kiss, with the excellently titled "Crushed Icebreaker" a thick, dizzying house groove characterised by the type of production idiosyncrasies that grab you from the off. "Passion's Limiter" begins in more traditional deep house territory, though there's a pleasant, gradual shift in sound as it progresses, with the vocal passage deep into the track likely to surprise many. The label's high standards of remix commissions are maintained with Frankfurt icon Roman Flugel drawing a sumptuous rendition of "Crushed Icebreaker" across the B Side expanses.
