Public Release make a mockery of the entire 'best vinyl art of 2011' awards concept with a picture disc that blows all completion out of the water in the second month of the year. Following the brilliant and oh-so New York photography that adorned Jacques Renault's debut on the label last year, we're treated to a decidedly French affair; Steak with herbs and chips on one side, empty plate on the other; brilliant. French disco producer Jerome Caron dons his new, darker Joie Noire alias on the A Side, with the heavy acid jam "Secret", which carries a menacing undertone beneath the intricately layered synth work. Flip over and Caron reveals his better known alias - Blackjoy - with a sultry slow-mo disco excursion characterised by some languid funk riffage. A massive round of applause to everyone involved with this release.
