There Were Seven Remixes CD

It's been two years since the release of The Herbaliser's There Were Seven album, a typically blazed fusion of hip-hop, funk and bass-heavy broken beats. Here, the album is given a new lease of life thanks to a raft of new remixes from some of the former Ninja Tune duo's music industry mates. While much of the material sticks rigidly to a scratchy hip-hop blueprint - as you'd perhaps expect - there are some surprising highlights. These include Lopez's pulsating, dark Italo disco-influenced take on "Crimes & Misdemeanours", a sparse, bottom-heavy leftfield hip-hop interpretation of "Take 'Em On" by T-Power, and a superb, delay-laden dubstep revision of "Welcome To Extravagance" by No Sleep Nigel.
